sredish
I was out riding some yesterday (with dalegoldston) and after we had rode for a little while, I was looking in at the engine area, carbs and just checking things out. I noticed some dirt buildup on the backside of the petcock and realized some fuel was leaking out. So, I reached over to make sure everything was tight, and I wiggled the hose on the nipple and it was loose. I pulled on it, very very lightly and the damn thing came out and fuel comes pouring out. But there is just enough pressure from the length of the hose to keep it pressed in there tight enough that it doesn't drip, it must just leak some when I'm hitting bumps or landing or something like that. You guys think I need a new petcock or is there something that should be on there. His was very tight, so I think I'm out one petcock. None of the dealers are open today or I'd have one coming. Just wanted some thoughts from you guys. Later.
DUNEDEMON
Never heard of this before, but there is a first time for everything. Have you removed the entire assembly from ther tank to see if can be repaired or if something came loose?
sredish
nope haven't done anything. too lazy i guess. I'll deal with it tomorrow, I imagine. I'd post a pic, but my camera is at home, and I'm not. Really strange, the nipple the fuel line clamps on can be slid in and out.

Mine came off when I was removing the gas line, I was pulling on the line & off popped the whole SOB. I imagine I'll/we'll be stuck with buying new ones , but Thank God for gasket maker...has been working soo far, no leaks.

DIRTMAN350
Same thing happened here. Tapped back in place with hammer and brass punch. Just to be on the safe side i ordered a new petcock from BikeBandit.com. Here is a place you can look at online microfiche and order oem and some aftermarket parts. Shipping is fast. Usually get parts in 2-3 days.
