slow2_2
Alright, I maybe wrong but I had always thought that the right way for the sleeves in the carbs to be the curved (more air) side should be towards your air box and the flat side of the sleeve toward the cylinders. I had mine that way and I couldn't get my bike started for nothing. The only way it would fire is to prime the cyl. with carb. cleaner and it would then die when the cleaner was spent. I just got a wild idea that maybe the sleeves could be in backwards. So, I switched the sleeves to opposite carbs and fired the banshee up. I runs perfect, idles great. Is this the right way for the sleeves or am I fixing a problem with another problem. Could I hurt something by riding it like this. The plugs look good after riding the bike like this. If this isn't the correct way for the sleeves, then what could the problem be. I appreciate everyone's help for this is a killer site for a new shee owner like myself. Thanks
BdBanshee
If you are talking about the carb slides, the side with the cut away goes toward the air filter/airbox. I don't think it will idle with the slides in backwards though............
sredish
Yea, it won't run worth a shit if they're in backwards.
J..J.
You are correct in your assumption that the cut-away faces the rear of the bike and that this is for more air. The cut-away only affects air-flow at small throttle openings, this is when air flow is at its lowest and needs a bit of assistance. It is strange that everything works perfectly with the slides the wrong way round, so to answer your Q, you won't hurt anything with the slides the wrong way round, but you have definetely not fixed your original problem, just covered it up. What are your mods, elevation and ambient conditions? Also let us know all your carb settings, pilot size, main jet size, needle clip position etc.

slow2_2
I just got back from riding at a local track and my banshee is running great. Jumping good and reving good. I am 100% sure that the cut outs are towards my cylinders. I think I will get new carbs though. Just to see if I can get more power out of it.
