Cotton eyed Joe
well actually chevy is made in canada and dodge is made in mexico. ford and toyota are the only true american made cars. i love my tacoma, i put that thing though hell and it just keeps goin. First number in the vin should tell you where it was made. As far as I've been told on a Chevy, 1 is USA, 2 is Canada, and 3 is....well,....you know. nasty01banshee
ther eis a reson for everything, im sure theres a reson for having a plant there.... yeah GM bought the Haldeman company years ago, and since they closed the St. christine plant in canada where the camaro's and firebirds were built since '93, there is only 2 rear-wheel drive platforms in GM's fleet, 1 being the corvette which nothing is built on except the corvette, 2 is the cadillac cigma chassis, on which the CTS and SRX are built on, there were early rumors in '01 when they announced the end of the F-body line(camaro/firebird/trans am) of possibly bringing back the camaro on the cigma chassis, but nothing has materialized. Pontiac lost their only rear wheel drive with the firebird line and went to the Haldeman subsidiary of GM, whose Monero car was loosely based on a rear wheel drive Grand prix, minor interior and exterior styling changes to an already established car which was capable of passing US crash standards without any major testing or redesign was a logical choice to put a rear wheel drive sports car back on their sales list in under two years. with space limited on the Monero line, only 18,000 GTO's are available to be produced per year.. LS1 with a 6-speed and a real back seat sounds like a hot family sedan... sorry to bore anyone, but i'm a GM nut (pontiac especially)....
