Extra Fuel

Recommended Posts

What are your guys takes on making an aluminum fuel tank that would sit inbetween the frame rails. It would sit up front and get smaller until it stops inbetween the pipes. I think I would need a small fuel pump to pump it into the original fuel tank. I could have it on a switch to where when I run out of gas I turn the fuel pump on and refill. I'm just trying to stay away from an IMS tanks because I have fullbore plastics. Let me know if you think that I am crazy.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Not sure how good you are at pre-fabbing alu, but you might have to build it "inside" the frame rails, if you know what I mean. I would go as low as possible to lower the CoG.

My truck uses a small 12V fuel pump, it's about the same size as the Banshee CDI.

Sounds like a cool project, keep us up to date!

That does look badass, but how much extra fuel can that hold, compared to the expense and labor. I guess if your struggling to keep the regular look, like with fullbores, then that'd work. I'd probably do anything to keep the fullbores if i had a set. B)

I agree that looks like alot of work for something that would probably only hold around a gallon. The guy that posted that has a 570 or something around there in it, so I'm sure that the cruising range on it was horrible. I just happened to bump into that and posted it as an option. It just seemed like a clean job that was done right.

yah got it wrong. yah don't pump it in the the main tank. install a Y just before the Y to the carbs. add a little valve to turn on and off. at the spare tank. the fabbing just take some good masurements and use the stock air box mounts.as for flow just make sure that the bottem of the tank has a taper up. so the fuel flows down word. just like the stock tank
