mercado111
Trade it for a 2-stroke, just kidding. You can port the head, replace the cam or valves, or lighten the bike up.
senoroms
which mods are would be best if hes looking for over all pick up and some more top speed
frocashmoney24
cam work, prolly the cheapest and do the most, or a big bore kit?
nater006
for a thumper, a cam. Some of the newer stuff like the YFZ450 have titanium valves and stuff in 'em already. A more aggressive cam will do it good, and it shouldn't be too difficult to replace.
senoroms
if i change the gearing and put a bigger spoket, will that take away from the lower end of the bike, and would it matter since 4 four strokes are all torque anyway
nater006
It will take away some of the grunt, but will give more speed, assuming you're talking about the front sprocket. It depends on what you want out of it. If you don't care about low end grunt, wheelie power, etc, then muck with the gearing and see if you like it. But, you are trading off power for speed, basically. If you're looking for a mod to add more power/speed capability, and just just one to adjust the power to speed ratio, a more aggressive cam is the way to go. bigboybanshee
My riding buddy has a warrior and he put in a high compression piston, cam, and bigger carb on it along with a timing key and it gave it a really nice gain. He still can't beat me though Edited July 2, 2004 by bigboybanshee

Wassup350
I would definitely get a pipe, air filter, and maybe some head/cam work done to it. If you get any of that done i would definitely gear it up one front sprocket size. The ex should have enough torque to pull through the gears even with a stock engine so go ahead and try it. It will pull longer through the gears and go quite a bit faster.
trail rider
You could try a new CDI box/rev box. I've test rode my cousins stock 400 and then his friends 400 with a white bros pipe and aftermarket rev box, and it was a night and day difference on the mid/top end.
