dubbin337
i just bought a used banshee the other day but it dosent really feel like it has the snappy power a banshee should have. It never really hits powerband just seems to bog at full throttle so i pulled the carberaturs apart and found 260 main jets running on stock pipes. When i took the bowls off i also noticed they are both the same i know one bowl should be different from the other but these both read 1-1. I dont know if the bowls also add to the problem or not but any help would be great.
No Limit Powersports
260 main on stock pipes sounds way to fat to me might try a 200 or mabey even a 210. Do you have a aftermarket air filter or stocker? Not sure what your talking about on the float bowls, whats the same the bowl??
Blacksmith
260 does seem like it might be a bit fat if you have a stock filter. However, if you have an aftermarket filter, it might be right. I would never tell you to lean out without looking at the plugs. As for the float bowls, if you look down into the passageway on the back of each one, there should be a small brass jet in one of them. That is the choke jet and should go on the left carb. Screamin_Banshee
260 with stock pipes is rich- they come from the factory with 190-210. Check the plugs, they will tell the jetting story. Also when u pulled the carbs apart did you clean them? Your post doesnt say one way or the other. I would suggest that you do if you havent allready. kenr74
I would bet that it had aftermarket pipes on it before you bought it. The owner probably put the stock pipes back on but didn't rejet it. Check your plugs but it sure sounds like you are rich.
dubbin337
i took the carbs apart for cleaning and the plugs were black when i took them out so im going to try running 200 jets as for the float bowls i know the choke side is suposed to have the small brass tube and if you mix the two up when putting it back together it will not start right. These float bowls both have the small brass tube and they are exactly the same so i dont know if this is causing any problems too. I was checking the carbs on another banshee and one read 1-1 and the other said 1-2 but these both say 1-1.
Justintoxicated
did you alredy clen the airfilter? it's its dirty it could be your problem...ditch the stocker before you go riding anymore if thats what your running, or you will be sorry! Mine came with a 210 main jet in it with stock pipes and filter. I kept the filter for 1 whole trip.... crankinpedro
get a k&n, and if you dont go through much water get the ones that bolt onto the carbs and eliminate the air box.
