Top End Time

Recommended Posts

Down to 110 on left side and 120 on the right side, time for some pistons. I have always been a Wiesco Pro Lite kind of guy, any suggestions as to what to run. this is my first time rebuilding the shee so any info would be awsome. I've seen people saying the vito kits can give ya some more ballz, but not really any claims on the wiesco kits boosting power. So I'm not really sure whats the best kit to buy.

Thanx

just ordered a set of Vitos forged pistons today in .040 over that supposedly boost lowend and mid by +6hp. :headbang:

Vitos are supposedly just Wiseco pistons made to Vito specs, whatever that may be.

i ve heard good about them not really much bad though, but theres 2 sides to every story as you know. :yank:

Get the pro-lites if you warm up your 'shee b4 hauling ass... go w/ pro-X if you just crank it up and take off. Make sure you order a gasket kit, order some engine ice also (gooooood stuff), get you a clymer (I'm sure you have one), lube up everything as you put it together (don't want to kick it over dry), and for the break in just go like this:

First ride: 15mins. 25% of power, 15-20 cool down (I set a box fan on the radiator)

2nd: 15min. 50% of power, cool down

3rd: 15mins. 75% of power, cool down

ride again at about 75% occasionally gunning it for a couple seconds and let it cool down.

5th: 15mins. 100% of power and cool down... then your good to go. (that's off of duncan racing website) Don't hold steady rpm during break in and if the engine is running you want air flowing through the radiator.

Damn theechozen1, already? You must be riding the dog snot outta that thing when you're home! I vote for Wisecos, and while you have the head off take it to a machine shop and have them deck off 0.030" (or see if boonman is still shaving 'em). You DON'T want to shave the head if you go with Vito's pistons, as the crown is higher and you risk interference (or say if you plan on doing a coolhead with smaller domes-same thing). Along with all the good stuf txblue said, make SURE to double check the ring end gap. Good luck.

Thanks for all the info guys, prolites it is. Ben...I have moved up here to reno and there is no good dunes out here. I think I am going to cry  But the desert riding is the best, I just got my bike and truck up here so after some new pistons I will see what the trails are all about. Thanks alot and ride on!

sand mountain is a cool DUNE, But coming from a place where I go to Glamis 4 or 5 times a year......sand mountain is just that ....A DUNE. But it will make for some fun I'm sure. I also saw some dunes about 2 hours past Vegas on the left side of the HWY, Anyone know what these are called??
