Liftedbronco
They are having a jamboree by me and its gonna involve some pretty difficult woods riding. Mainly a 4x4 event. But ya see i dont have a 4x4. Im sure I can do fine, but what about the possibility of installing a winch? Has anyone done this before? Will my stock stator die? Does anyone make a bumper for me? Could i convert one from another model?
sredish
man, i don't think your going to get that done. there is no way your stator will even come close to running a winch. you'd without a doubt, need a battery to run that. you could possibly set it up with an rz wiring harness and the generator/alternator from the rz. i don't know shit about the rz, don't know what it uses to charge the battery, but it's got to have something that would supply a charge to the battery, and the batter would allow you to use the winch. that is the only way I can see it working. What i'd do is just get a hand winch if you really need one, that will work fine. just store it on your rear grab bar, or better yet, get a six pack rack and keep it in there. i don't see the electric winch happening on your shee, call me crazy. there are no banshee winch bumpers. you could also use the six pack rack for a winch mounting point. ledofthezep
Just tie a tow-rope to a tree, wrap it through the frame of the banshee to your back axle & tie it on. Hope on & give'r hell.
.
one word for you.....cum-ba-long You could do something, they just came out with real lightweigh winches for 400ex's and sportier quads, and I forget who it is in dirtwheels I saw an ad (forget what its called, but it'll enable you to run a battery) and you could go from there. If there is gonna be a lot of mud, get a cumbalong, and some nice 22 or 23 inch realtors and the biggest front tires you can find and chances are you'll make it through 9/10's of the stuff a 4wd could

nater006
Screw the electric one... if you're serious about getting a winch and not having it weigh down the front too much more, look at something like this... http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto...tegoryId=278918 You get the idea... might want to look larger or smaller but.. something like that will do ya. Liftedbronco
thanks for all the great replys. If i were to go with the realtors exactly what size would u reccomend to to with my stock wheels? Front reccomendations?
.
one word for you.....cum-ba-long come-a-long you laughing at my accent?! lol, with the realtors, I have 22" ones and when they were new I could make it through just about anything I threw at it. Any mudhole I hit, depending on how big it was (wasnt hitting the ones that would be deeper than my seat for more than a second or so), I'd hit it with a little bit of speed to get me across some of it before I got down into the mud, and the realtors would claw right through it. Go with a 23" front tire, I'd go with a rounded tire, my bandits that are flat dont like to dig into the mud to turn very well. I also run the pro flo foam filter and am amazed by the thing still sometimes, it has never failed on me once and the day I got it I said goodbye to my airbox lid. I'd recommend cutting the very bottom off of your drain plug for the airbox so water will drain out of the airbox.....especially if you ride in the swamplike stuff I do it'd be full of water in minutes, the foam does a good job of repelling water, and just sends it out the drain plug
