racer Posted June 23, 2004 Report Share Posted June 23, 2004 (edited) i think itd be a lot of fun if the guys up at LS OK would set up some kind of course and an event date where you could run like a prerunner type race. having several different classes and whatnot. that park is really pretty damn big once you include some trail runs, a kick ass straight down the sand highway, and a run up or down buttercup. the only reason i can think of this not being done before is because its a state park, whatd ya guys think? racer Posted July 18, 2004 Author Report Share Posted July 18, 2004 It take a long time to get from the north camp ground to the south and its very easy to get turned around in the trails i know so what its a race (well it would be if i ever did though but its just wishful thinkin), not a walk to the sno cone shop. and that way itd be a mix of riding styles so flat out haulin balls, some up and down across the big dunes and then some trails for those mx guys who love to carve it up. The last couple of years the guys over at planetsand have held a drag race called "Smooth Drag Day" The first year it was held on a Monday with an awesome turnout of people. The cool thing about having it on a weekday is the dunes were damn near empty except for the drag racers and a few of us spectators. The reason I bring this up is if we could get enough people to make the trip down say for the weekend and stay over til Monday it would be a heck of alot less dangerous meeting someone head on in the trails. We could also have spotters, I'd say wifes and GFs but my wife would probably want to race, scattered between the start and finish. I know alot of people don't have jobs where they can just take off anytime but if it was planned for later in the year like Sept or Oct maybe that would be enough time for people to scheduled some off time.
