cpi inframe vs. rocket

Recommended Posts

I think they're both very high quality. Comparing the two, you couldn't go wrong either way, they're both nice. I don't really have much experience with hi-rev/drag pipes, but I think it's a tossup. I'd personally love to have a set of Rockets, but I'd also like a set of PT mids. Hmm, I think I need a couple more banshees to play with...

BTW, reas sells Grand River Racing pipes and not any of the pipes discussed in this post and I don't think anyone here would lie for a sell nor do I believe they make much money of of bhq members.

sredish, i don't sell grand river pipes .. i'm just a supporter of grand river racing . my point was when lee made everyone change there signitures i had to remove all links directly to grand rivers site .. i just think everyone here knows rays a dealer and if he is allowed to have it in his signiture thats free advertising if thats the case ill put the grand river link back in my sig .

Just do it. Everybody else doesnt give a f*ck about the rules, you shouldnt be the only one following them.

As for the rockets vs. CPI's I'm gonna be getting my rockets soon, I have seen a dyno run and it was pretty good the rockets came on sooner and revved higher than CPI's did and they made the same peak HP, and they made a little more torque (like .1 more) From other people I have heard that the rockets have a little more low end than CPI's but they feel it doesnt have as much peak HP.

And for the record, reas isnt a dealer for GRR he is just very happy with the service he got from there just like how alot of people here like their shops. Theres nothing wrong with that at all.

 whoops, sorry bout that, for some reason i thought i remember you saying you did, i was mistaken.

i, to, have heard that the rockets come on a little earlier and rev a little more, but have no firsthand experience, i'd like some though.

Does anybody actually have Rocket Pipes? I know everybody has "heard" how great they are but the only people I know of that have them also sell them. I'd rather support the smaller guys than CPI but I can't seem to find much out about these things.

I recently purchased a set of Rocket Pipes , I don't have them mounted yet , waiting on some air filters ,hope to have a ride report soon.

I like CPI's and think they are a great pipe , but every set I have seen had cracked mounts , or had been rewelded, Plus Everybody Has Them !

These Rockets are some Big as# pipes ! but most of the pipe is forward of your legs so I don't think leg burns will be a problem.

Plus you can actually talk to the person who weld these pipe together ,the owner.

Hope to be at Little Sahara over the 4th of July weekend to get'em jetted in and try them out in the sand.

Yep, get those things on there and then give us a report. They sure look nice and I'd rather have them than be another CPI rider.

I have Rocket pipes on an RZ motor. It has some fairly agressive porting done, but still no where near a drag port. I only had my exhaust raised slightly, so I may not be able to rev the pipes as high as they can really go.

They pull pretty good down low, probably close to CPI's. Unfortunately I had my CPI's on stock ports, so I not got a chance to really see them shine. I have noticed a loss of bottom end compared to the PTR mids that were on this motor, but I kind of expected that. They start to pull hard in the midrange and rev out as far as my motor will.

They fit great and for big pipes I don't burn myself anymore than with other pipes. Probably the only problem that I have had is the chrome is starting to flake at the welds. I haven't contacted the builder yet, It may just be a fluke job by he chromer, so don't take this as a bash against the pipes. They work great, I would compare them to CPI's if I had to make a comparison.

just to let everyone know - Rocket pipes acquired a new chromer one month ago. So if you bought pipes within the past month, it was from the new guy - who has some quality show chrome stuff. They even built a custom rack so we can do 8-10 pipes at a time now.

Sorry broke, but you probably had the old guy who really screwed the owner with alot of bad jobs - email the guy you got them from, im sure he will work something out with you

I figured it was just a problem with the chromer. I didn't mean to bash the pipes at all. Performance wise, I couldn't be happier. The chrome is a minor issue. I plan to contact him, but it not really an issue when they are always dirty anyway.

I just got my rockets installed and took her on a long test drive today. I'll have a product review soon. I'm way too busy with work (went to night shift  ) so for now I'll just say that the little bit of low end that I lost with the FMF Gnarlies that I have been running is a small sacrifice for the shitloads of top end and extra rev I seem to have in each gear. Unless you like to cruiz along like an old fart on some twisty trails, the Rockets seem to kick ass in every riding condition that I do. Most noteable difference is the way it pulls hard and accelerates like a mofo to the top of 5th and 6th waaaaay better than the Gnarlies. :bolt: The power comes on pretty smooth, not real light switchy. Not to mention they look and sound sick as f*ck! :headbang:

Ok guys , here's a pic of Rocket pipes installed with the fenders on.

Does require extensive trimming.

Ok here's one of the airbox , these pipes clear the stock airbox just fine , heck they fit better than my LRD's did.

Ok one minor problem , the stock pipe tabs will require some minor trimming.

One more , side view with left side installed , will add more pics when I get done , got to go help the wife for a while now. :(
