falling sucks

Recommended Posts

today at work .. i had an accident one of the few times i got caught not respecting my surroundings.. i was on a roof and was climbing off as soon as i stepped on the first rung of the ladder to climb down, the ladder slid out.. i fell 20 feet and landed on my back. for the first time in my life i was scared that i was fucked up bad.and not gonna be able to walk .. my boss came running over . i was trembling a thousand things were going through my mind at once . went to the hospital and found out i sprained my left arm , and have contusions on 90 % of my back and some in the lower rib cage area . i didn't break one bone i got lucky .. but i'm in extreme pain right now. i can barley walk .. just thought i'd share it with u guys cause my riding days are over for a little while . sorry about any typing mistakes i'm typing with one hand . just for anyone who thinks it cant happen to u .. know it can and respect your surroundings because when u dont u will end up like me .

I had to bail off once, I was about 25 when i did and still had the forward momentum from the jumb. Now I have pins and screws and need a new rotator cup. My right shoulder is trashed, I really wish I would have landed different. Glad your ok, your gonna be sore for a WHILE. I'm glad you can still walk, I thought I was paralyzed.

If you now somebody with a pool, go float around in the sallow end, it'll relax your spine. What I mean by floating is resting your arms on an air mattress and drag your heels on the bottom. Let the water support your weight and not your spine and muscles.

That sucks. I agree, its not the fall that hurts ya, its the sudden stop at the bottom. Take your meds and behave. If it makes you feel any better my buddy just shattered his femur into 8 pieces two days ago, the x-rays look pretty bad. Now he has a metal rod from his hip to his knee with a few rather large screws holding it all together. Pretty grusome.

cyclobenzaprine is the shit

English please sir.........

Ok.

Cyclobenzaprine (commonly known as Flexeril) is a muscle relaxant most commonly prescribed to relieve muscle spasms resulting from injuries such as sprains, strains, or pulls. In conjunction with an overall health plan, rest and physical therapy, Flexeril provides relief of muscular stiffness and pain.

Cyclobenzaprine is not a substitute for the physical therapy, rest, or exercise that your doctor orders for proper healing. Although Cyclobenzaprine relieves the pain of strains and sprains, it is not useful for other types of pain. Do not share Cyclobenzaprine with others for whom it was not prescribed, since they may have a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug.

Sorry to hear about that. I fell off of a roof 2 months ago, i slid down a 12/12 roof and landed in snow, my neck and back are just starting to feel good again. I also now how that ladder can be. 2 years ago i was carrying shingles from a one story roof to a 2 story roof ( sounds stupid but i had 2x4's and everything to hold) when i got done carrying 10 square up this ladder, i realized i forgot my toolbelt on the peak, when i went to get it, i stepped off of the ladder and the ladder kicked out and my forearm caught the alunimun wrap and left me with a sweet scar, that wasnt so bad but i thought that i was going to be watching tv with the homeowner i hit the roof so hard, needless to say i called it a day.

hope you feel better.

just for anyone who thinks it cant happen to u .. know it can and respect your surroundings because when u dont u will end up like me .

That's the truth. I know a guy who was on the second step of a 4 foot ladder and was painting a garage soffit. He over reached a little, the ladder kicked out and he landed on the ladder. Broke 4 ribs :whoa:

I know another guy who was a bricklayer. Up about 6 scaffolds, he nailed in a cleat for the plank to rest on. He went out on the plank and it pulled out. Turns out all the dozens of nails he put in were only in the foam  He fell 30+ feet down onto the planks and other junk on the ground. He had to be air lifted and bone grafts and all kinds of surgeries & crap just to be able to walk.

So be careful guys sometimes it's one slip and you're done for.

Damn Reas11, that must have been scary as hell. Drink alot of water and that will speed up the healing for muscle injurys. It surprises me that you didn't break a bone! You're on tough dude for taking a 20ft shitter and still made it to the BHQ to tell us all about it on the same day!

Damn son, you got lucky, could have been a whole lot worse.

A friend of mine fell down a 50 odd meter bank when we where out spotlighting one night, he chased the possum out of the light and took the fall, was there one minute then gone a split second later.

Lucky for him the creek at the bottom was in flood and was around 2 meters deep, it broke his fall a bit but he still fractured vertebrae in his spine and messed up his pelvis. Took us around 7 hours to get the poor guy out. Luckily he made a full recovery though. Scariest shit I have been through in my life

Looks like a good time for Brooke to throw a little TLC your way
