boonman
Hopefully the floats won't stick after you clean the carbs?? That would suck!!!! I hate clanin carbs, I hate jetting. I flat out hate messin with my bike. I like to ride when I can. I have ben doing that for a while.. lol Like Benny said, if you don't have fuel on the plugs, there is a problem. I would think that with the amount of time you have been kicking it over, you should have an assload of fuel in there..... unless it's not getting any.... being the age of the machine and what not, the jets may be gummed up.... boonman
Did we get the carbs cleaned yet?
cdcoxwell
Got the carbs cleaned. Still would not crank . Got-a-buddy to pull me and after about 50yds w/the throttle floored shee spit and sputtered until shee cranked. . Shee will not idle at all, as soon as you quit giving her the gas shee goes dead. Shee will kickstart now. Also, the shee is bare, so there's no airfilter on her at this time. I don't want to put back together untill I know what is going on. I should have gotten someone to pull me off before I cleaned the carbs, that may have help w/some answers. I was told that shee would still crank while shee's hot if there is engine problems. He said wait a while and when shee cools down, then try to crank her and go from there. So, tell me what you guys think. What's my next move ??? PUSH THE THROTTLE
Sounds like it has to be your jetting. Adjust your air screws and check and re-check your pilot jet. Also you should put your filter back on because you will be running it with an airfilter any way so if you get it running now with it on you won't have to adjust jetting when your done. Plus it's just bad for the Shee to run without an air filter that could very well be why your carb is jacked up.
cdcoxwell
Thx Push, doing that right now.

cdcoxwell
Mullet, look 4 post back . I did and shee will not idle.
PUSH THE THROTTLE
CD to add to what I said before the reason in checking your pilots is because when you start your shee as long as you don't start it holding the throttle open you are only getting fuel through the pilot jet. From reading your other posts it sounds like a lack of fuel. Your main jet sounds reasonable since it runs until you let off the throttle. You have good spark and reasonable compression. Turn your air screw 2 turns out from seated and as long as your pilots not plugged you should get it to fire. Good luck, I gotta go.
svtkid78
Once it started after you pulled it would it run with you giving it gas. Then die when you let it idle?
cdcoxwell
Ok Push, I understand what you are saying now. Going out side now to try that. I'm back. Shee was 1 and a half turns out so I turned the air screw till seated and backed out 2 full turns. Still nothing. As before shee would quit as soon as I let off the throttle. Now with 2 turns out, shee goes dead a sec. later. So, I believe you are on to something. The air screw, I believe, is for fine tuning. Do I need to bother with turning the screw out more or change the pilot get . I was told to change the pilot jet, I called my buddy at the steelership, because the air screw was not designed to correct problems but to only fine tune the carbs. What do you think?? Yea svtkid, once let go of throttle, shee would go dead and not even try to idle. Thx Cary
