COMPLETE REBUILD

Recommended Posts

I have approx. $2300 in aftermarket parts for my 87 banshee. Wiseco Pro Lite pistons, Tr-6 pipe kit, big bar clamp, Taper bars, motion pro twist throttle, terminator clutch cable, new x-ring chain, sprockets,p. brake block off, ez-pull clutch lever, amp link, billett impeller, 2 to 1 air filter w/outerwear and some more odds and ends. Any suggestions when installing these parts and putting this beast back together will be appreciated.

I'm pretty good with my bike and repairs but have never taken anything this far down. Just general advice so I dont destroy anything needlessly. I appreciate the welcome. This place kicks ass. :headbang:

mainly I need to know what needs to be done after the motor is reinstalled before starting the shee up!

when you put the engine back in, double chekc everything, make sure all the wires n shit are hooke dup, new oil, fresh mixed gas, fresh coolent, and let it idol for like 10 mins, shut off, and do that 3 times, then do some quarter throttle run, shut down, some half throttle run, shut off, some 3/4 runnin and shut off, and some wot runing and at that time pull in and do a plug test to make sure its runnin ok, then ur off and ready to ride

If you question any part as far as wear is concerned just replace it. Don't risk putting something inside your motor or suspension parts that could possibly hurt you physically if it breaks.

Tr-6 pipe kit

2 to 1 air filter w/outerwear

You didn't say what mods you had to start with but I'd be looking at 290main jets minimum to prevent it frombeing lean at full throttle. In fact I would even start my bike until I've made sure about the jetting.

Keep on posting as you go along, the guys here will help you out!

Getting the jetting up to 280 to start like JJ said is a good to do cause you don't want to fry it right away. Like he said when you add better air flow you need to jet up. I would only let the motor run on the first three heat cycles for 3 minutes or till you can't hold your hand on the radiator. Then for the longer heat cycles ride around, it needs air to let it cool.
