McSkinner
Hey guys, first off, thank god it's back up. I been waiting all week for your help. Recently finished a rebuild, and she absalutely rips. But, once I open her up in 5th-6th, Shee dies and will not start for hours. Seems flooded. I know I've read similar posts, but can't seem to find them now. when I rebuilt, I moved down from 300 mains to 280's and moved the needle up one clip. Also she runs great in the lower revs for as long as I need, but once I open her up, she bogs and dies. A little Help?

McSkinner
Plugs look great. It's the weirdest thing. It bogs, won't start with a thousand kicks, then a couple hours later, one half-assed kick and she fires right up.

mrmatt
Check to see if it has spark when it won't start. If it does, compare how intense the spark is to when the engine is cold.
oldturtle
Was Shee running good just before rebuild and did you make any other changes that could effect jetting during the rebuild?
J..J.
Check for spark, if good, check for fuel starvation, like blocked petcock screen or vent on the gas cap. If the spark is poor, best you check out BenBB's electrical FAQ. Once it's sorted, please post back, so we can all learn...
.
I bet ya have a blocked petcock. Had a similar problem with my blaster when I had that. Would run fine for a little bit and then starve for fuel and shut down and not get fuel for a little while.....and then from sitting the particles will move around some and you'll get good fuel flow for a little bit...and then it'll run and block up again. Pull the petcock out and give it a good cleaning......or next time it happens.....pull the fuel line from the tank and see how the fuel flows. To be safe I'd bring some extra hose, shut the tank off, stick the extra hose on so you can keep it away from the bike. If its not that, I'm guessing something is getting hot and cutting spark, but it only happens at wot so I'm thinking its fuel.
