locogato11283
exhaust, intake or just go all out and supercharge it! i have never heard much good about programmers in gas trucks. now diesels are a different story. they respond very well to them. wesw
i just put a gibson 3 inch stainless steel exhaust on this weekend. and when money is available i plan on puttin that vorlant cold air system on where it draws for the front bumper. i wish i knew someone that had one of those iwould really just like to bump the shift pressures up and remove the speed limiter. tats4life
i used it on my truck before i supercharge it. it's cool cause u can adjust your shift point and recalibrate your speedo if you have bigger tires and such. and it you can cut out the fuel cutoff like you said. then i fubared my motor and put a ZZ4 fast burn 385 crate motor, and a whipple on it. sredish
The Hypertech programmers are nice, especially for adjusting the tire sizes, shift points and all. However, if I'm going to get something for a light modded motor, I'd go to Jet Performance and have them burn you a program for the application. My opinion. tats4life
Jet redid my computer when i built the motor and installed the whipple.

sredish
I've got a very tired 454 in my 95 chev and I need to do something to it. You probably know but the '95 was the TBI year and has weak compression from the fact and doesn't put out squat new, let alone with 145k miles. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I've really been leaning towards a 383 but that zz4 385 looks pretty damn nice. I was just looking at it on the goodwrench site. I was also considering just rebuilding the 454 and cam it and get some newer Vortec heads and put my money back in the big block. I don't know what to do. Oilsmoke
I am looking into modifing my New chevy ( For Me anyways) 160K ,1998 K15 longbed. Are intake TB spacer worth the time On a 5.7 Vortec? What the Hell is a Whipple? Exhaust mods what can be done with it? Friend Bought a Hypertech and I say it work great , He change Shift points and Top speed, Made the truck run harder He loved it. evil
my experience with the hypertech programmer is it sucks. by the time you mess with the peramiters onf the motor, you have to run the highest octane gas, and it dont get you but mabey an extra mile or less, and if your a lead foot, forget about it. only cool thing was the shift points and raising the speed limiter. made for fun but a fat gas bill. Otis
I was gonna say the same, but as usual, evil beat me to it....... w/ the way gas prices are these days, and having to run high O gas...it's not even worth it. I'd turn my truck back to stock(if i had kept all the OE stuff)........but If you want to mod...start w/ a a good exhaust, headers, a high flow cat, and cat back exhaust, and an intake(i'm not talkin K&n), cam, and new timing set . plugs, wires, cap rotor, t-stat, and make sure all your TSB's are up to date. Regear for tire size.. (just me) but w/ over 100K on the motor, i wouldnt be thinkin bout a super charger. Start w/ your basics, and work your way up from there....
