BigRed350x
An R1 is too much bike for someone who is getting their first crotch rocket. That is retarded. I had an R6 for my first bike and it spooked me occasionally. For any normal person just doing riding around town an R6 is plenty.
cudaz101
For a first bike I like the Ducati Monsters...Go with a 750 for starters...They hold their value well so when you are ready to ace it you will have no problems...Also there is alot of uniquness with this particular bike...Not many will know what it is...With a nice set of Termignoni "SP" pipes it will sound like a small block chevy idling...haha...They are nimble, and forgiving in the corners, and they have that low down grunt power that won't really catch you by surprise..It is a decievingly powerfull setup... The R1/Gixxr/ZX9R..etc..These aret for the riders that are not satisfied with anything but balls out power. I happen to be one of these junkies, and I aint gonna even start tellin' stories... One thing I will agree with...And that is...If you are good on a dirtbike it will help your control on a streetbike...They have little in common carving corners but seat of the pants control the dirt exp. is gonna be nice... If ya decide you NEED the big power...Save yourself ALOT of money and get a more dated bike...Such as a Gixxer750...Say a 96-99...Cheap superbike power. I had a '96 and it was a total beast with only a full hindle exh., K&N kit with Jets this thing was amazing. Brad
racer
a rebel 250 would be enough. the new R-1 will do 120 in first gear. do you really think you can handle a bike like that?
BigRed350x
I wanna stick an R6 or R1 engine in the banshee frame.
stu
this bike is some mean machine mate they can reach over 100mph in 1st gear. u really need that performance at 17??? you'll probably enjoy a 600 or even a 400 more cos u can throw them around so well. ive been ridiing a cbr400rr for nearly 2 years and every time i go to a bike meet i have people on 1000cc bikes asking if they can ride my bike the 100's are fast as fu*k but i reckon you'll have a much better time on a smaller bike. not to mention the medical bills stu
crazyfzr1
Get a 600 it will be plenty of power!!!! I doubt you would even get insurance on an R1.
Ducman
If you want an R1 as your first bike you should get your blood type and organ donor card in your wallet. I saw a 2004 R1 at the dealership a couple of monthes ago. They look pretty cool with the underseat exhaust, not as good as the Ducati's of couse! It was only a couple of monthes old with the original tires on it, Totaled! The dude was an experienced rider doing wheelies on the freeway, about 2nd gear 70mph. Not that I haven't done this before my self but, its asking for it. I can't believe that Suzuki will finace riders now for GSXR's and does not require them to get full coverage insurance. The insurance rates are rediculous, but still, it sounds like a recipee for newbie suicycle disaster.

All these newbies fuckin go get the bike that looks the best and the ones that the magazines say is the fastest and get killed tryin to get on the dam highway or something. hell i saw one kid the other day just got a brand new r1 and rode it to school and stopped to talk to somebody and couldnt hold the bike up then he got back up and dropped it the other way. how can you expect to handle a bike like that if you cant even hold it up!!!
