2004LEBanshee
I bought new TAG X-5 Bars and first I purchased a set of shitty scott grips. I also picked up some Renthal grip glue. I got home put it on the bars slid and the grips on. Then a minute later I hear pop my fucking grip end blew up!!!!! It was oozzzing glue out the end. So I got pissed and ordered a set of grips from tag. I put one on and let it sit for about ten minutes then I put the other on and POP AGAIN. It's ozzing everywhere. I'M GONNA TAKE A SLEDGE TO THIS FUCKING THING.

nater006
Wow thats a crazy chemical reaction... interesting! You may want to just poke a small hole in the end of one with a scratch awl or dentist pick to let it relieve the pressure if something is reacting funkily which it seems it is. 2004LEBanshee
Yeah I did one side at a time. Well I'm not buying any new grips for a while. I thought about the hole poke thing but it was too late. Edited May 24, 2004 by 2004LEBanshee
DirtRider
you just buy good grips and put them on with jelly or pepsi. there both sticky. wont go anywere. if your grips dont fit really tight on the bars i would go with a different grip
cdcoxwell
Just spray paint in the grips. It will work as a glue and a lubricate so they will slip on. Works great for me.

sredish
you just buy good grips and put them on with jelly or pepsi. if it comes out while your riding, at least you'll have a good snack.
jinx44
I have found the hard way that renthal grips and renthal glue only work with each other. Any other glue will melt the renthal grips and the renthal glue melts any other manufactures grips.

reas11
why not just skip the glue and saftey wire them on?... seems like the easiest and most effective solution .
2004LEBanshee
I would have if I thought at the time they were going to explode.
Dune Ratt
The best way I have found to make a grip imovable is to wrap the bars with a little cloth tape soak it with hairspray. Then jam the grip on as far as you can if it won't go on all the way use an air nozle to blow the grip up kind of like a baloon and jam it the rest of the way on. once the hiar spray dries the grip will never move no matter how ssoft the compound is. a little trick i picked up racing BMX.
