papa_smurf49319
Well i just blew my shee up looks like its goin to need a new crank, and new top end. Well my question is, the domes in the head seem to have a couple nicks and dings in it, and i was wondering if i should replace the head, or if i could just replace the domes out of the stock head if they are removable. I have pics on my computer if someone needs to see them. heres a pic http://bikepics.com/pictures/153533/ Edited May 22, 2004 by papa_smurf49319

brock_fuzzy_69
the domes are cast into the stock head and not replaceable u do waht to at least clean that up befor eyou put it all back together i used a small hone on a die grinder and just worked it realy slow be careful not to nick the outer ring of the dome where it makes that step up u might have to take some emery paper and polish it up smooth just do not leave it the way it is if you need a stock head with out any dings marks or damage jsut give me a shoot in about a week............i am takin a vacation starting in a few hours

Holyman
If I had to rebuild, the last thing i would do is use a recycled head that I ground down with a die grinder. Now would be a good time to have the head re-chambered for your new bore and milled down if you are not going to go with an aftermarket head. papa_smurf49319
ya i agree i dont think i will mill it unless i have to i want it to be reliable, as of right now i have to buy a hole new top end kit, a new crank, and do something with my head and i have a limited budget
Oilsmoke
Buy a Good used head. that is milled down for higher compression.

mybadbanshee
im in the same boat as you papa.my top end is getting sent out on monday280 bucks, new crank from tony ducas400 bucks, new head300bucks,and ya gotta figure for seals gaskets and other shit your gonna want to replace.that brings it up to like a grand.kinda sucks but itll all be worth it,especially when im puttin it all in a new frame any way good luck and go for that cool head. oh yeah this all started with a stupid clutch problem that i probably coulda fixed for like a hundred bucks.
