jeepman380
I bought a pair of YFZ450 shocks and i've gotten all the grinding done on the mounts but I can't seem to get them into the bottom mounts. I can slide them up under the a-arms and into the top mount but I can't get the bottom of the shocks to clear the bottom a-arm. I don't want to have to unbolt my bottom a-arm but that looks like my only choice. Anyone have any suggestions? Any would be great. Thanks
erbilabuc
jack the front end as far up as you can so the arms extend as far down as possible, it will do the trick.
jeepman380
Did that still won't work. Bottom still won't clear, keeps getting hung up.
Dark Ranger
Have you tried using a spring compressor to shorten it?
bbluebanshee
Did you do some grinding on the shock itself? I know when i put mine on, i had to grind about1/4 to 1/3 of an inch off the bottom of the shock to get them to fit.
erbilabuc
man play with it some more, when I did mine it went straight in, didnt have to do all this extra curricular shit except grind the upper mount
jeepman380
I've done all the grinding to the shock mounts and to the bottom of the shock and I have it jacked all the way up and the a-arms are free moving and I got the top of the shock mounted but the bottom is like 2 inches away from the mount and won't budge. It needs compressed but I don't have any tools or anything to do that. What does anyone suggest?
McSkinner
Try putting the bottom in first. then push down on the resivoir to compress the shock enough for the top mount to slide in.
