bigboybanshee
When I bought my banshee the guy I bought it from wasn't sure what year it was, and I didn't really care for the fact that all years are fairly similar...all I cared about was the fact I just got a complete banshee for $500 Anyhow, later I find out that certain years had minor differences such as style of connector plugs (i.e. stator plug connector, run/kill switch, etc). Well, its coming down to me looking for replacement parts and I found a stator that will work for a 94 but not a 95 or vice versa. This is where my problem comes in...I was told two different things: the color of plastics on there were purple and yellow, which one guy said that signifies it being a 95, and another guy said that it was a 94 I know the frame is original along with the engine, and I know there is a way to tell what year it is by looking at the VIN #. Does anyone either know if the yellow/purple plastic combo is particular to only one year, or does anyone know how to tell by looking at the VIN? I remember a long time ago someone had posted the different years and their color combos but I can't find it and or remember the specifics. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!! THANKS! BansheeJen
On many things they are year specific because of plugs. But i've already had to go the stator and CDI route. For some reason the cdi for the older bikes is more than the newer ones. So I bought a newer one it had one extra wire on it, spliced it in to my system and all was good. Kinda like when you order a stator from Ricky Stator, comes with no plug on it. You have to splice your own on. This may not work for everything but it does work for some stuff. banshee boy 98
the 10th diget of the vin weather it is a number or a letter is what tells the year. i work at a dealership and use vin#'s all day. that is how i know. it doesnt matter what the vin is on ..banshee or a toyota truck, or grandmas buick the 10th diget tells the year. i have a chart at work i will post friday for your future use. thank you

nasty01banshee
only thing i remember is that up until '99 they used letters, some government format or something... '00 and up started 10th digit '0' = 2000, '1' = 2001,'2' = 2002, etc,etc........ there is some cross reference for the letters but i can't find it Edited May 21, 2004 by nasty01banshee
