Seeds In My Foam Filter

Recommended Posts

I have gotten a bunch of grass seeds in the outer foam of my pro design filter. they got imbeded in pores of the foam. I didnt think it would be a problem but now i fear they will break down and get by the fine inner foam. ive tried to get all of them out but its not going to happen. Anyone else have trouble with grass seeds?? I really need to run an outerware. But i fear i have to retire the filter now, unless someone can asure me these lingering seeds pose no threat

The seeds are in the coarse outer foam? That's OK. If you can't get them out, don't sweat it. If they're stuck in the fine inner foam, remember, the proflow has 2 layers of fine foam, so long as it isn't poking through to the inside you'll be ok.

get yourself a hose and stick it on the inside of the filter and hold it against the inside surface of the foam so it pushes through almost like its flowing naturally.....and then just keep working it with your finger and they'll come out.....it'll take a good long time....but it works

That's the best way to get stuff out stuck in the filter. Patience will pay off. An Outerwears cover is the best route for the long run.

just make sure you don't hit any water so they start to sprout...LMAO :jesterlaugh:

J/K I would try vaccuming them out or possibly some compressed air from the inside

That happened to me.

I was riding thru a field and it started to rain so the seeds from the weeds and tall grasses got everywhere. When I got home, I did a quick hose off and put it in the garage. About a week later I pulled it out for a ride and there's 1" tall grass sprouts sticking out of the frame where the gussets are and by the footpegs and skid plates. I tried pulling 'em out but apparently there was a clump of roots or something that wouldn't allow the whole thing to come out. Best I coud do was leave it in the sun and dry it out really well. They haven't grown back but I would get an outerwear for sure. I run a Toomey 2:1 with an outerwear. And no probs with that.
