Holyman
About 85 lbs with a simple crate. I make mine out of 3/4 plywood bottom and 1/4 plywood sides and top. Works great.

Ducman
Who areyou guys using to ship these motors. Doesn't UPS and Fed Ex Ground have a weight limit of 75lbs and doesn't it get to be too cost prohibitive beyond that? What about shipping the botttom end and the cylinders seperately, might this save $ since both boxes would be within the standard ground shipping weight limits? Holyman
It's not worth taking apart to save on shipping. You will pay extra for it being over a certain weight {75lbs maybe?) but it's still affordable. I would check into Grayhound {yeah the bus line} they shipped a frame for me CHEAP and got it to the local depot fast!

Hockey390
And this is where I come into play.... (being a UPS employeeee) UPS will ship anything up to 150 lbs. The cost for a package is determined by a few things. A) Weight Dimensions C) Where its going D) How fast its getting there There are 4 different catagories for dimensional weight.. *Regular packages (under 18x18x18 I believe) go as their actual weight. *OS-1 (oversized 1) will go as a 30 lb package, you could ship a feather in the box, and will still go as 30 lbs. *OS-2 (" " 2) Will go as a 70 lb package. Same as above.. *OS-3 (" " 3) Will go as a 90 lb package. Same again.. So if you were to break down the engine it wouldnt matter. That engine is going as probably 90 lbs no matter what you do to it. There is also "Crate" which is basically trucking, starts at $300, so only use this if your shipping more then an engine Hate to mention this, as its not my job.. but if you have it crated up, take it to the post office.. They may be less expensive. Only because they go by weight alone. Hope this helps, if you have questions about shipping contact me

I had to ship a very small item across the US one fine day. UPS needed $11.00. USPS needed $1.85. The box was 4" x 4" x 4" and weighed almost nothing. My shop has needed to ship some bigger items to places like Hawaii and Chicago, and we have to use UPS or FedEx, and its well over $100 to ship after we package it at the shop. Mostly because they are in the 90lb-size catagory. The parts only weigh about 20 lbs though.
sredish
I had 4 tires mounted on wheels and a full lift kit (leaf springs and boxes) all shipped UPS. There 11 packages together and he dropped them off for me at my shop. The wheels/tire combos were pretty heavy. I've never thought of shipping Greyhound, that's very resourceful. Hockey390
Ya, UPS is for larger things.. USPS goes by just weight. SO if its light, go that way.
