Just know they got hurt doing what they loved. After I wrecked, I was more scared than my wife was. In fact while I was in the tent writhing in pain and praying to god that I wasn't going to be pissing blood, she grabbed my buddies banshee and told me to "get back on that horse". I would have slapped her silly if I would have been able to move. I told her I can't walk, how the hell am I going to go ride? She said GO DO IT!!! After the 5th or s6th time she said it I just had to tell her that it hurt too damned bad, and that I could feel every bone, every muscle, and every internal organ I had, and probably a few I didn't have. My best friend had three nemo thorax's in 6 months and I stayed at the hospital every nite. I now exactly what you and your husband is going threw. Breaking a mans spirit is worse than death. And to be honest riding these machines, feeling the adrenaline rush and carving some sand is an awsome feeling. The accidents and pain come with the territory, and in my opinion is well worth it. I dont think any ATV is to blame for accidents, rider error is to blame. Blaming an ATV for an accident is like blaming a gun for a murder. My family and I hope the best for him and your family. roosthrower Posted May 16, 2004 Report Share Posted May 16, 2004 I guess that I was very lucky when I crashed in little sahara to only suffer eight stitches to the lip and a chipped tooth. But like many others said, it is hard to blame the machine, when for it to do what it does, the human must opperate it. Please keep us posted on his condition, and wish him luck. She was out of town and got on here and logged in and was going through my pms and this and that. Not that I care, but hey, no snooping, if you want to look then just say so. She didn't think the banshees chasing down the tards was very funny, but I told her, as mean as it was, I thought it was funny as f*^k, especially Leds, wheelying banshe chasing the one tard in the sand. makes me laugh now. Overall, I think she was surprised at how most of you responded, like you took a moment and said something intelligent, I think she expected there to be a bunch of careless shits on here. BenBB and CEJ, I agree, understand and appreciate your thorough remarks in regards to the "desire" to ride. It's very true, and one does not understand unless they've been there. She has zero experience with quads and the first one she was ever around was my lt250r i had when we got married. now that I'm home, she has calmed down and is now understanding that we'll move on from this experience. she was very scared and afraid of what happened and what could've happened. I'm luck to have someone that cares that much. I'm also very thankful for the people in my life that care and go out of their way for me. My parents hopped in the truck within a half-hour of me notifying them (at 10pm) and drove 4 hours to be with me. The next morning, they drove 200 miles to and from LS, to get my truck and trailer with all the gear. When they got back that afternoon, we were back in the truck headed home, another 4 or so hours. i've agreed to be a little more cautious when I'm riding, because (if you've ready my other story) the main reason the accident even happened was due to my confusion in reading the terrain ahead, and instead of slowing or turning, I just barreled ahead until it was too late. That was only my third time ever in the dunes. I think I ride really well, but my experience with the sand and reading it and reacting to it is very limited and I owe my accident mostly to that, and partly to an incorrect split decision. But hey, shit happens. I'll ride again and I'll live on to see the next one. I'll probably be taking it easy at the dunes for awhile, and I probably won't be back for awhile either. How she going to sale all my toys and I just going to start playing golf on weekends again... He was up on the 2nd-3rd rung of a ladder when he lost his footing and fell. Knocked his head on the pavement and that was it. It just happened. i know this may be late but... One of my great friends....he fell from his feet standing up and landed on pavement...he died that second....so it isnt just his falut.... And hopefully you will be back up on the banshee. Lord knows we've all been there before. I've been to the hospital countless times, had a shitload of wipeouts. crashed cars, flipped down ravines in cars, end over end on the bike, watched people die on streetbikes in front of me... anyways... enough of that. I am pleased to hear that you didn't get any "severe" injuries. Don't take that the wrongway. When I say severe, I mean that someopne won't have to wipe your ass for you for the rest of your life, or you be eating out of a blender.... That is what I call "serious". Detrimental shit...... I full well understand the pain you're in, I've broken that shit before. I couldn't believe your wife posted about this. My wife didn't even know about this website untill tonight. how about that??? And as I sit here and explain to her who exactly you are Scott, she is rubbing my back with baby oil!!! Talk about a redneck!!! I got me some sun today. All crispy myself. Anyways, I thought I told ya to be careful with that lightned flywheel..... Get yourself a beer, relax, and you'll be set!!
