luv2ride13
Hey I found a advance key for 11 bucks that says it avances your timing 3 degrees. What exactly does that mean and is it worth it. I am looking for more power but mainly low end so its a lot easier to pull up wheelies. I was thinking about going to a 13 tooth front sprocket to increase my low end and am not sure what else to do to increase my wheelie skills besides practise
evil
keys are not worth it, spend a little more and get a timing plate. plates are stronger and adjustable. look into the ricky stator one, i think its about 35 bucks for it. or you could go with a billet one that will run you about 100 bucks. Wallrat
Hey evil, how often do you adjust that timing plate? I got the $11 degree key from alba and really like the quicker response I get throughout the rpm range. Yes it definately improves the bike's ability to pop the front end up. Its not a huge change and its hard to describe but I would say that it just makes things feel more "torquey." I also dropped to a 13 up front since I mostly ride sand and I prefer to be able to pull the front end up over obstacles and dropoffs with just a twist of the wrist. Just make sure you torque the flywheel nut down to specs or you'll risk shearing the key off.
rebelbanshee2
i say plate, you dont want to chance the key breaking. I took my flywheel off and the timing key was in 3 pieces....somehow it didnt shear completely...needless to say i have be anti key pro plate ever since. And from what i hear modifying your stock plate is pretty easy and effective for nothing too
sredish
i agree. i've never ran a degree key, but from the response i hear is how "it could" happen and to some how it "did happen". The small chance of it happening is not worth saving $25. Of course, my 2 cents.
randelator
THE KEY IS A IMPORTANT THING IF YOU HAVE TUNE PIPE CAUSE THE STOCK TIMING IS ONLY FOR STOCK PIPE BECAUSE AS YOU PUT TUNE PIPE YOUR RPM INCREAS SO YOU NEED TO INCREAS YOUR TIMING!!
