TopGunnYFZ450
So both pilots can be different onside smokes perfect and ones a forest fire is it alright to run two different pilots?
sredish
well, that's not exactly how I meant that to be interpreted. my bad for not being thorough. However, it's not totally uncommon that one cylinder will get a slightly different air/fuel mixture due to the choke circuit and how it's setup on dual carbs. i would make sure the carbs are clean and no clogged jets. I would also suggest running a wide-open-throttle plug test to make sure your main jets are jetted correctly and that your plugs look like they're burning the same. Also, be sure to try new fuel and new plugs, old fuel can burn crappy and old plugs can keep from burning a complete combustion. After you've ruled that both cylinders are running the same and there are no air leaks, carb problems, etc, and you're just having a smoking issue, it would probably be alright to adjust the pilot in one carb slightly different the other but I wouldn't adjust more than one size different than the other. If it requires more than one size to clear the smoke, you may have some other issues. Also, don't run your needles in different clip positions; always keep your needles and mains exactly the same. Above all, make sure you have no other problems or issues before, so you don't mask another problem. Later. TopGunnYFZ450
ok thanks maybe he should just put the stock carbs back on instead of
Ducman
Check to see if the air screws are adjusted evenly (same # of turns out on each carb) and that the carb slides are synchronized. Does the big puff of smoke happen only near startup or all the time?

eehsnab2
Mine did the same exact thing right after rebuild. One side smoked alot more than the other. My builder said to just let it run a little bit and ride it some and it should even itself out. After about 1/2 hour of riding everything was fine. Just make sure that its not leaning out too much and/or if it pops alot you may have jetting problem.
