Mods To Do While The Case Is Split

Recommended Posts

I have my case split to replace my shifter shaft. I replaced the shifter seal and it still leaked oil from the shifter so I assume that the shaft is worn. I was thinking about doing a clutch and impeller. What brands do you guys recommend? Will just getting stiffer clutch springs make a difference?

Go put in a Tuder Racing Shift Pro kit and tell me how it works.

LOL , Me too!

While I was in there, I personally would have the crank trued and welded, if its not. Then if money allowed, I would get a new clutch basket set-up, with fibers, steels, and springs ( for trail/play riding 3 stiff, 3 stock) Then for the hell of it, I would have Boon mod the shift star, and the head (if not done allready). Then just for one more thing to do, go ahead and to a timing plate cause I had it apart.

This is what I would do, of course if money allows.

Good luck!

Yea I just sold my paintball gun for $500 so I'm pretty much going to dump all that into my shee. I was thinking about gettin the ebc clutch kit with the 10% stiffer than stock springs. My clutch looked fine but I figure I might as well upgrade now that I have pipes and tires.

You're right splitting the case was not the correct term. I meant what mods can I do while I have the right side case apart. Where can I get the shift star mod?

Boonman does the shiftstar mod very reasonable.

Follow the directions, soak your fibers, ditch all the stock plates fibers and rubber cushions. Line up the red tab on the fiber at 12 o'clock next put a metal plate in, then the next fiber at 2:00, plate, fiber 4:00, plate... line up the mark on the pressure plate to the mark on the clutch basket. Put your springs back in torque them down to I think 7.5lbs, slap the sidecase on then you need to adjust the play so that your clutch arm lines up with the arrow on the top of the case. Install the kick starter and peg put the brake back on if you took it off . Fill the crank with 1.5 quarts of oil of your choice (I use Honda HP CR tranny oil) ride one outing on it and then dump the oil, don't worry what you will see is normal. Fill it back up and have fun.
