Jetting Help

Here is my current setup. Noss Cool Head w/19cc Domes, V-Force 2 Reeds, Toomy T5's, Stock carbs bored to 28mm, K&N Clamp on filters. My altitude is 4600. Can anyone help me get a close approx. Before the Carbs, Head, and Reeds with the stock airbox I ran stock pilots and 280 mains. The new carbs have a 30 pilot and 350 mains. Does this sound a little to fat to anyone?

Maybe a little fat, I was thinking more on the lines of 320, give or take. No one really knows, you could 320 or 350. Do a plug check with the 350 in and you will soon find out. If it's all wet, then yeah, come down one size at a time till the plug looks the way you want.

Here is they way I go about jetting. Keep in mind, this is my way, everybody has a different way.

 

1) Install guesstimated main size

2) Run plug check

3) Dial main jet in where it needs to be (may take 2 or 10 plug checks)

4) Dial in pilot for off-idle response

5) Dial in needle (dial in by running bike and adjusting needle for best performance) Note: When richening needle, leaning pilot may be required.

 

So, what I'm saying is, get your main set first, even if the off idle is a little off. Get your main set where it needs to be then work down. If you try to worry about it all at once, it's overwhelming and a PITA.

BTW, if you run your wide-open-throttle plug test and your unsure or anything, get back with the color and we'll help you get her straight. If she bogs out or fouls on your wide-open run then just back her down a little and go again. Little by little and you'll have it, plus, you'll learn a lot about how your machine runs and what your machine likes.
