nickxc
I was told that spray paint will work as good as grip glue for holding the grips in place. Im gunna try it what the hell, my grips are loose.
sredish
I was told that spray paint will work as good as grip glue for holding the grips in place. Im gunna try it what the hell, my grips are loose. if you're going that route, extra hold hairspray works better. I personally don't think any of that homebrew stuff works as good as grip cement. nickxc
I personally don't think any of that homebrew stuff works as good as grip cement. prolly not but I dont have any grip glue on hand and Im sick of spinning grips so we'll see how it works. if not I'll drive the 40 miles to my closest dealer and get some grip glue for $7 per half ounce. Well, I've tried the paint and hairspray, in fact, my grips are hairsprayed right now, and they both spin, the left one really bad. After reading this post this morning, it's got me thinking about getting new ones today and some glue, cause I'm sick of them spinning. I always forget about it until I get on to ride, then I'm like, "damn grips". Later.
mrmatt
In my opinion, the grip glue is a waste of money. Spray paint worked much better for me and I always have a few cans laying around to use. But even the spray paint only lasts so long. If you really want your grips to stay in place, then use safety wire.
Holyman
The best thing of all times is belt dressing. The more they move the more they stick.

PUSH THE THROTTLE
All my friends use silicone on theirs I thought it was a bad idea until it was my only option and now if I ever want new grips I will have to cut them off, they won't spin. nickxc
I tried super glue and that didnt work at all. I put some paint in and it held but they started spinning at the dunes again yesterday but I didn't put much paint in so I might try putting more in. How do you use safety wire??? just wrap it around??
bigboybanshee
How do you use safety wire??? just wrap it around?? I've heard people say this before (to use the safety wire) and I was wondering how you put the safety wire on as well..Ironically, I had ordered a new set of grips last week and they came in today. Figured I should not beat around the bush and put them on right the first time....Hairspray and glue didn't last but one ride when I used them before
DUNEDEMON
QUOTE (nickxc @ May 12 2004, 01:14 PM) How do you use safety wire??? just wrap it around?? You have to use "saftey wire pliers" to do it correctly, they are special pliers that clamp the wire then allow you to spin the body of the pliers to secure the wire, then cut off the excess portion of spun wire. Sorry for the poor explination - kind of hard to describe. Go spend $30 on a good set of pliers and a spool of saftey wire and do a little practicing on some stuff before hand, you have to be careful not to wire them too tight otherwise you'll cut through the grip. You will be amazed how manny other things you can secure with saftey wire on your Banshee. I have used them for years, never realized how manny people have never used them. bigboybanshee
Thanks Dunedemon, that makes plenty of sense I definitely did not know there were plyers made just for safety wire!!! Thanks again!
