Is This My Jetting Or What?

Recommended Posts

I went ridining yesterday, and it seems like my shee won't rev as high as it should. My mods are in my sig,and my elevation is about 700' above.I running Mikuni 28mm flat slides with 25 pilot,310 main, and needle one clip higher then stock, and air screws 1 3/4 turn out.I started at 330 mains, and the plugs were always black and wet.Now with the 310's the plugs are dry,but still black I trailer my shee to ride so doing a plug chop is sorta hard.It runs good, but I have a little mid bog,and at WOT it doesn't seem to rev as high as it should.I run Motul 800 pre mix at 50:1.The pipes still smoke pretty good even after it's warmed up,and the motor temp is good.Is my jetting off,or do I need to sdjust them different?Any help would be great.THANKS GUYS!! banghead

How high would you say it's revving, maybe rpms or percentage of how high. Is your throttle adjusted correctly, you might have too much slack in the cable and your throttle lever is not pulling the slides all the way up. I was also thinking float bowls, might need to be adjusted, but could be wrong there.

Those are just a few thoughts. Your jetting doesn't sound like it's off that much, if any. You might back off one more main size and do a plug reading next time you can. I know how those duals can be changing mains all the time  . I'm no expert, but I'm just kinda brainstorming, hoping something will pop out right.

Cables are adjusted great, and slides go all the way up.It just seems like other banshees rev a bit higher then mine.I was thinking about going down to 300 mains.Dry black plugs mean rich right?

Wet plugs mean rich, black and dry mean you pretty darned close. Lean your main one more size and check the plugs. You'll probably be alright one size leaner, see if it helps.

Good luck.

Right on. That's what I'd do...throw a 300 in there & see how shee does. I'm running 280's in mine. You want the plug to have a chocolate brown color to it. ;)
