'99350t
what is it? and how do i do it? *edit* i know its a sensor, but thats all i know about TPS. Edited May 7, 2004 by '99350t
banshee370
TPS is a throttle position sensor. I dont know if you can test them w. a meter or not.. Do you have a tech manual? A tps should be fairly cheap for that vehicle.... EGR could also screw w/ your idle....
zilladude
check for vacuum leaks. An egr valve that is stuck open will cause a rough/low idle. ( it would sound like it had a big cam in it.) also check to see if the IAC motor is stuck. (Idle Air Control) Edited May 7, 2004 by zilladude
'99350t
i have no idea what all those abbrevations means, but i have no manual or anything for it, i guess i will have to take it to the shop and pay out the ass then huh?

SHEEDAISY
tps(throtal position sensor)is on top of the throtal body there the butterfly thing is . to check it turn the keyin the on position but engine off . with a digital volt meter check the green wire with the positive and black wire in the negitive one . it should be around .997-.999 . the iac (idle air control) is on the side on the egr plate behind the throtal body .take it off and clean it really well with carb cleaner and then shoot some wd-40 in there to keep it from sticking . it sounds like the tps is to high josh
'99350t
today someone was telling me about something to with the battery being dead/ unhooked? and he tried to explain how to reset it. any camaro guys here?
nater006
I'd bet on a vacuum leak or similar. To reset the puter in any of these vehicles, you basically leave one of the battery terminals off for like 30 minutes or whatever. Maybe a little more.. i think 30 is probably plenty though
Stuff
the iac (idle air control) is on the side on the egr plate behind the throtal body .take it off and clean it really well with carb cleaner and then shoot some wd-40 in there to keep it from sticking . I have to disagree with the location of the Idle Air Control on a GM. IAC is located in the throttle body or in your case the throttle bodies. If it is your IAC then take it out and check it over, clean and go from there. Then check for a vacuum leak(s), throttle body base gasket, intake gasket, vacuum line........ If you end up dumping money into fixing the cross-fire setup don't bother!!! Put your money towards a good intake and a 4barrel carb. The cross-fires are not known for their performance!! I have an 82 Camaro that had a small block but now has a big block. I still have the small block Edlebrock Perfomer intake if you are interested. (not trying to rope into something...just letting you know) good luck and keep the Chevy runnin
