erbilabuc
i've got a trip to tug hill on memorial day weekend and i wanna know if it would work or should i carry a can? it would work as long as you are getting your ratios right. Just make sure that when you mix it you have your petcock to the off possition because if you put hte oil and then the gas the oil will sink and possibly go straight to your carb bowls. '99350t
unless your tank is bone dry and you can swash it around enough to mix the oil in the fuel(with valve off) i wouldn't do it. where abouts will you be, iam around 5 miles from the hill. bansheefreak
gas cans are pretty cheap considering... i would never do that.....i think i would pay 100 bucks for a gas can before i did that .... not worth the chance Edited May 7, 2004 by bansheefreak
tbd
i'll be in turin staying at the timberview yeah i'm really not to keen on carrying a can on back, and the five gallon tank would bother me a little
Holyman
gas cans are pretty cheap considering... i would never do that.....i think i would pay 100 bucks for a gas can before i did that .... not worth the chance The undeniable logic of this comment is profound. You are going to get the gas from a gas can somewhere why not spend the 2 seconds it takes to pour the oil in the gas? And if you can't handle that, why not spend the $2 to buy a 1 gallon can that could be strapped just about anywhere?
.
I'll be doing it this year down at Hatfield-McCoy probably. I'll have my IMS tank so the ratio will be easy....just drop in 5 gallons and my 16 oz's and I'm ready to go. I had a can in my backpack before, but now I'm gonna be running my helmet cam. I figure the gas tank is just like a gas can on your shee anyway Just make sure you have the petcock off and shake the hell out of the shee before you go riding again. evil
would this be the same as taking a swig of milk and then a squeez of chocolate syrup and swishing it in your mouth.
nickxc
Ive done it a hundred times. around here we ride long distances and have to fill up at a gas station to make it home. I usually take an old soda bottle that is clean a dry and put the right amount of oil in it for 2 gallons or 2.5 and squish all the air out of it and put it in my pocket. then when I get to the gas station on my ride I put the oil in the tank and throw away the bottle. put 2 gallons of gas in and shake the shee. I never had a problem. Its either that or dont ride over 20 miles away and everyone takes long rides around here. dcmoose
bad idea...Is it really worth finding out the hard way that it won't work right. I am not sure who makes it, but there is a rack that goes where your grab bar goes that holds a 2 gallon tank with a strap. I know they make a 1 gallon too, but i think it would worth it to get the two, and save yourself the time and money of doing a topend becasue you rather mix it in the gastank. dogboystoy
I think its fine to mix the gas in your tank. Like it has been said, shut off your petcock (I like that word PET COCK, i do that sometimes at night). But anyway, as long as you mix the right ratio you will be fine. Just monitor how much gas you put in and then put the proper amount of oil. No big deal. And if you were a little rich would it hurt drastically? NO. Even if you were a tad lean you will be fine.
