gonzoret
I have been doing some research on my banshee to get to know her better, and this website (and you guys) have been a big help. once in a while i see the rz350 pop up! the most i know is that it was a street bike and it was powervalve type motor, also heard of some people using them on there banshee's, whats the story with that? Holyman
You've got most of the story. Many say the RZ also called RD in it's early US life and called RD in Canada and overseas thru it's whole life. The RZ is also said to produce 55 HP stock which is about 50% more HP than a stock Banshee. The transplant is not super difficult since the engines bolt up the same but some mods need to be made to the pipes and you will need to use the RZ CDI, stator and flywheel. They also need a battery or a special battery eliminator to run the power valves. The RZ has a slightly different tranny ratio so some guys exchange some of the gearing with the banshee to optomize on the kind of riding they do. Not a bad deal really because sometimes you can get a complete engine OR a complete bike for less than it costs for a banshee engine alone which are usually severely abused. gonzoret
A guy at some shop told me that for racing, the original banshee motors are better,is that true? is there more upgrades for the stock one
roosthrower
if anything the rz would be the better powerplant for racing. powervalves, better cooling, and more horsepower make it better than the original banshee motor. and mods for the banshee will work on the rz350 since they are pretty much the same motor.
