Air Box Help

Recommended Posts

i have 12 little 1 inch air holes drilled in my air box and i put little air filter like fome inside with a skrin.

i have that because i have toomey tr6 pipes and a pro design air filter

so my problem is that mud and water get into that dam air box fast because of the little air holes. dose the holes realy make a differance in performance for the pipes and stuff or could i block the holes with cilicone to stop some air flow and some water and mud

or realy last resort should i stay away from mud and water altogether

thanks

If you like riding in the mud I'd say fill em in.  There's no sense sacrificing rideability for power.

I agree 100%. My engine would have been toast this weekend if I had any air vents in my lid!! You might notice a slight difference without the holes but not enough to risk trashing your engine...I'd say buy you a new lid on ebay and try it out. That way you can just list whichever lid you don't like on ebay and you won't be out much money if any...

I cut the last 1.5" off the end of the lid so water can't get onto the filter. Your motor will have all the air it needs...Cover the holes w/ duct tape or get a new one on fleabay....

the 12 1 inch holes are spread out everywhere....there are 2 on each side, 6 in back where where the plastic coolant container is, and 2 on top of the lid

should I ductape them or put cylicone instead??

or should I buy a whole new box and lid??

I would use black duct tape, but I'm a cheap mofo too. :D

It really depends on how you want it to look. It won't make any difference performance wise.

if you are going to waiste your time drilling holes every where why didnt you just take off the lid? i would just buy a new air box but if you dont mind the looks of it with duct tape all over it they just do that. though in my opinion it would look fugly. i have an old air box would sell ya for $5 + shipping if your interested. if you dont ride in the mud then get th k$n filter. i like mud so i like the box just as much
