wodeman
But I still need to hold the clutch boss inside the basket to get the nut off. I need an idea of how to hold the boss so I can get the nut off.
DIRTBIKEZ
I put it in 6th gear, held the brake and loosened the nut... being that you only have 1st and 2nd that may not work.

Otis
I just took mine off today. Used an impact, w/ a regular socket and it came right off. No need to worry about holding it in place if your using an impact... Edited May 4, 2004 by Otis
ledofthezep
To see if it's bound up you should not have to pull anything off other than the clutch cover. Move your shifter & you'll see where the shift fork grabs the star & you'll be able to see if it popped out and is outside of the star & bound up in 2 gears. If so, take a small flathead & unbind it. I'd recommend shimming up your shifter also after getting the gears unbound.
