Rescuejeff
My wife has problems seeing at dust amd early night time when riding back to camp from a afternoon in the dunes. She wants to get some new light but we have stock light right now with no mods to the stator. I have to replaced her stator because of some starting issues we are having. I know that many of you have aftermarket parts that can help me out at this but I have no clue what is good out there and what sucks ass. So help a brother out if you can. Yamahammer
try ricky stator http://www.rickystator.com/ he has both lights and can rebuild youre stator to stock or for higher output. he is also great to deal with just got my 200 watt stator flywhell and adjustable timing plate i would deffinatly recomend this set. then you can either buy his lights i like the dunner set up or you can run 55 watt bulbs in the stock lights stock watt is 35. SouperSport
6000K candle power hid should be a little better than stock these are the lights i am working on getign i will let you all know when i get them up and running http://www.hidstore.com/sanrailhidof.html 206942 Couple suggestions on for HIDs for you.... First, make sure whether it's 6000K color temperature or 6000K candle power. Most HIDs are rated in watts at a certain color temperature. 6000K candlepower (thats 6 million) is almost unheard of except maybe on a spotlight!! 6000K color temperature (6000 degrees Kelvin) is very common for HIDs. Basically means its a bright white with a slight blue tint to it. Very bright though! 5000K is completely white and goes as high as 12000K which is purple. Second... HIDs require constant DC power! They will not run well, if at all, on AC power. (Note: Banshees run off of AC power) You can check the TrailTech website for more details. Basically Involves adding a new regulator/recifier and a battery. If you don't run a battery you will need about 30watts minimum output from your stator at IDLE. (for small ones...the ones I'll be running would require about 60watts at idle) HIDS are not like regular lights (obviously). They will not simply dim if the stator output is too low. Because HIDs run off of a SPARK and not a filament, they will shut off completely if they do not have enough power running to them. The constant "flickering" that would occur without proper consistent power would drastically affect the life of the bulbs as well as the ballast. Just make sure you're doing it right if you want to take the HID path. Not to rain on your parade or anything... just don't want you frustrated or dissappointed when things don't go as planned. I'm actually considering HIDs myself... I've already purchased all the needed components to convert my 'Shee to DC power (cost me like $50 in parts). Fortunately the batteries are pretty small (lead acid). The one I got is about 1 1/2X4x2 inches. I'll post pics once I get the conversion done and post pics of the Shee with my new lights. I'll be adding some 75watt HIDs (that's output... they'll consume only 30 watts of power...EACH). Ought to light up, just about the whole damn mountain!! I'm still figuring out a few options so give me a couple weeks and I'll post some pics... GOOD LUCK!! WOrks AWESOME!!! 206648 For you Diehards... ElectrexUSA also offers a 250watt LIGHTING coil for the banshee. It has a 165watt wire for hi-output lights and also has a SECOND 100watt wire to run the stockers or another set of lights or accesories (requires a second 12V regulator). Price is a little more than ricky's though. About $250, but if you're SERIOUS about light it'll definately do the job. Oh, by the way... that 250watts is just for LIGHTING!!! I still has the regular output for ignition. Thats the Ignition, and 2 lighting outputs (160W and 100W)!! Very Cool!! Here's a pic!! Looks pretty beefy if you ask me!! DUNEDEMON
Can someone please explain this to me? it was extreamly easy to float the ground on the ricky stator version.
SDD
Can someone please explain this to me? 316928 Ricky stator designed his stator to be modified to run a battery. To Float the ground all you have to do is cut the one wire that is screwed into the back of the adjustable timing plate. Make sure you cap the wire off. Thats it... the hard part is figuring all the wire connections to the regulator rectifier and battery.

I SPOKE WITH THE TECHS AT ELECTREX, AND THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT ON NEW STATORS, EACH LIGHT OUTPUT IS NOW 125 WATTS, TOTAL 250 WATTS. THAT MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE FOR ME, BECAUSE I WAS GONNA USE A 130W OR MORE FLOOD ON THE "HIGHER WATT" OUTPUT. I AM NOW RUNNING 2 HELLA 500'S AND 2 PIAA 40'S WITH PIAA 55W XTREME WHITE BULBS IN EACH. VERY BRIGHT! JUST THOUGHT YOU GUYS OUT THERE MIGHT WANT TO KNOW........
2003LimitedBanshee
I would have to agree with a lot of the above about HID's. Another thing to consider is that HID's, while they use less power once they are fired, require a lot of juice for the initial firing. And as mentioned if it falls below that they will simply shut down. I can't speak for the ease or difficulty of switching the Banshee system to DC, so no help there. I would, and have opted for PIAA lighting systems on my cars, banshee etc. I prefer the PIAA's w/ Xtreme white bulbs. Everything I have runs these bulbs and they put out light somewhat comparable to HID, unless of course it's parked next to something with True HID. Bottom line, for me, the PIAA setup has provided more than enough light.
