stogy3
I am going to pick up a 2002 banshee that I bought from a friend who's son fell off and scared himself into not wanting to ride anymore. Did not flip it, just fell off in some rough terrain. What are some things to look for or make sure are done before I take it out in the trails? One of the mechanics at his shop who rides a lot (400EX) is the person who has been doing the maint. on it. So from what he says it is mechanicly sound. But I want to be sure. I have been out of this fun for a long time ( I had an 87 banshee back in 1990) and I didn't know how to care for it then.
Stuff
If the maintenance was kept up on it you should be set. I would go through and check all the fluids (brake, tranny, coolant), air filter, grease it, lube the chain, air pressure and whatever else you can think of. Other than that, have fun with it! banshees and beers
I know your buddy said he did not roll it, but maybe his boy did not tell him. Look at your A-arms in the front, make sure they are not bent or mangled in anyway. Also look at your plastic, anyplace there is a seem or a mounthing point. Look too see if there are white stress marks in the plastic. those are a few ways to see if it was rolled or not.
boonman
Look out for pesky 4 stroke bikes that will want to race. Waste them repeatedly. Unless they are on a 450 and have some sort of a clue of what they are doing.... Also be on the lookout for miscellaneous checks and credit card charges for aftermarket parts for your new bike that seem to always add up..... Spend your $$$ wisely and you will be a happy rider......
stogy3
thanks guys!! Boonman my wife will be taking care of the watching of the parts purchases. Between this my harley and my truck she'll have her hands full. Although my new son gets all the purchases now. I was shocked when I told her about this deal and she asked what I was waiting for. I am lucky I have a great wife.
