Percy
Hi, My left rear wheel is not running true. I think it is either bent axle or buckled rim. Not bad, but want to get it sorted. If I switch the wheels to the other side, and it changes, then I assume the rim is buckled, if it is still out on the left, then it must the axle? WHen removing the rear wheels, can I just remove the wheel (4 nuts) or must I remove the hub (large nut, with cotter pin)? Cheers, Percy
Wallrat
for just the wheel you only need to remove the 4 14mm nuts. That big nut with the cotterpin holds the hubs on.
Percy
Hi Wallrat. I see you have the meat thermometer mod. How easy was it to do? Do you have any links/posts already describing the mod? Cheers, (Thanks for the info on the rear wheel removal)

Cheers, Percy You can remove the wheel by the hub, large nut/cotter pin, or the 4 little bolts. When I'm changing my gearing around, I remove the whole hub/tire, replace the sprocket and then replace the hub/tire. Both ways will work just fine. Remove both wheels and spin the axle and watch to see if the axle moves up and down while spun or not. If the axle is bent, you'll see it when you spin it, if it spins true then it's not bent and you need another rim.
