PolyKarbon
Hello all, I am a true newb to quads and I wanted to ask a few questions. First, the story..... I went to Iraq for a year and while I was there, my friend talked about quads. He was always saying how fun they were and how we should both get one. So we get back home and I forget all about it until he buys a brand new 2004 Wolverine. We take it out and I ride it for a few minutes and I was hooked. I knew I wanted a quad. At work, I was talking to a few friends and they all said the same thing, GET A BANSHEE! Well, I did some research on it and then promptly forgot all about buying one.....until my wife can home with a little present. IT was a mixing cup. But oh not just any mixing cup....this was special, it was for mixing gas and oil. Hmmmmmm...... what the hell is this for? I was totally confused, then a truck pulls up with a quad in the back. A little surprize from the wife. It was a 2001 Banshee with all the hop ups mentioned below. So thats how it came to be, me and my 'Shee. The next day my friend took me out to some trails and some nice long dirt fields to ride. The first day was spent trying to learn the clutch. The second day was all about the speed. I was, and still am not ready for this thing. But I love it. Now for the questions. Whats is the boost bottle, and what does it do? What are Tag Triple Clamps? And finally, what are Renthal Sprokets? The guy who dropped it off also gave me a handwritten list of all the hop ups, so He may have mis spelled some things, or I may have read them wrong. The rest of the hop ups I found on the bike, and indeed, they are there. Thanks in advance for the help, I love the site. Oh and by the way, is it normal to always think your about to die when your in 5th gear pinned, or will the feeling wear off? Hop ups: FMF Fatty Gold Series Pipes Power Core Silencers Hydraulic clutch Boost Bottle Tag Triple Clamps Tag Handle Bars Prodesign Intake V Force Reeds Douglas Rims Holeshot Tires Renthal Sprokets Alloy Nerf Bars Shock Covers DG Alloy Nerf Bars DG Sissy Bar AC bumper Edited April 22, 2004 by PolyKarbon

rebelbanshee2
the boost bottle goes into the carb boots just behind the cylenders. its the big round aluminum thing. do a search and youll learn all about them the tag clamps are for the oversize 1 1/8" tag bars as opposed to the stock 7/8' bars 1 1/8 bars are real nice and the renthal sprockets are just replacement sprockets make by renthal. any othr questions and bansheehq can handle them...oh and get a clymer manual between that and here you can learn how to troubleshoot and fix ANYTHING on the bike Edited April 22, 2004 by rebelbanshee2
Blue Duece
.... what the hell is this for? Now for the questions. Whats is the boost bottle, and what does it do? What are Tag Triple Clamps? And finally, what are Renthal Sprokets? most 2 cycles you have to manually mix the gas and oil, as in the case of the banshee, renthal makes sprockets and handle bars..a boost bottle is a canister that does nothing that goes on the crossover between your intake manifold and the block (worthless mod)..tripple clamps are the mounts for your handle bars, that connect to your stering stem and handle bars
PolyKarbon
I know theres a 6th gear, but I almost piss my pants in 5th! Then again, Ive never gone this fast on an open vehicle, or maybe you can just call me a pussy. Go on, call me a pussy....

First the boost bottle really doesn't do much for enhanced performance but takes place of the cross over tube connecting the two air intakes between the carbs and reeds together. But since you have it, leave it there. Not exactly sure how the triple clamps work but they are holding the Tag handle bars to the steering stem. The sprockets are the two gears your chain wraps around and Renthal is just a brand name. Here are some links to help you out Boost Bottle Renthal Sprockets TAG Handlebars Also you might want to start calling your DG sissy bar a DG Grab Bar. It sounds alot cooler. And like the post stated above if your having fun in 5th gear go ahead and pop that baby up into 6th and you will really fly. Search Amazon.com for a Clymer's Manual for your new shee. That is the best tool you'll have in your toolbox. Have fun and always check back here for all the info you'll ever need on the banshee. Oh, and Iread this in another thread, but Im starting a oneman team (myself the only member) and its called the Shambalamba Shit Flingers. Yes, FlingerS, even though its just me. I'll just ride alone into the woods now and myself int the noggin. Oh yeah, and the hydraulic clutch IS a Magura, just checked it. My friend keeps his Wolverine in my garage cuz he lives in the barracks, Im thinking of doing something to it. Like setting it on fire. boonman
The boost bottle is junk. it is supposed to smooth out the power by equalizing things between the cylinders. it doesn't work. I took mine off and plugged the holees with aluminum slugs. Your Tag triple clamps aren't triple clamps at all. A triple clamp goes on a motorcycle, or a 3-wheeler. (ATC) A triple clamp holds forks, and the handlebars. On a banshee, the bars get clamped to the steering stem. They adapt the 1 1/8" diameter bars that you have to bolt onto the bike. The 1 1/8" dia. bars reduce fatigue while riding due to the added flex they provide because they have no cross bar. That bike sounds pretty good. As does your wife!!! As mentioned, renthal aluminum sprockets aren't too good. I would replace them when they wear out. It should be soon if they are aluminum. Now that you're here, put on a pot of coffee, because you will be up for hours on end reading the endless information supplied on here... sredish
Do not lose that wife!! What a great chick. Sounds like you got a pretty nice bike also. Welcome. I think Motul has gotten you answered pretty good, so I'll leave it at that.
6sic6
First off, thank-you for your service to our country. It is because of people like you that I am free to ride. Congrats on joining the ranks of banshee owners. I'm also a newbie or feel like one anyway. Every time I ride mine it never ceases to amaze me. Be prepared to spend long hours thinking of cool shit to do to trick it out. The best thing I ever did for my banshee was to become a member of this site. Everyone is so cool and helpful and hilarious. I hope your wife is still cool about your new obsession in a year. Maybe get her a quad too so she'll understand. Enjoy!
