bronco91shee
Hey yall, my bronco is in my signature. what im lookin for is input on new tires for it. im willing to put in a 2" body lift to cclear. im lookin for around a 35/36" tall and like 13.50 or wider tire to fit on a 15x10 rim. im lookin more for a serious off road tire, since im off road uslally onece or twice a week now. on the other hand, i am in college, so its my only vehicle to get here and bac home, so its gotta handle ok on the highway. i know it aint gunna handle stock, and im cool w/ that. i also know i wont get more that 25k outta the tie either. right now the main tire imlookin at is that mickey thompson baja belted 36x14.5x15. i bring it to the dunes more than anything. i do play in the mud a lil here at school. im locked up in the rear and runnin a limited slip up front. im runnin 4.11's to match tire size. any experience u guys have had with any tires would be great. im runnin 33x12.5x15 bfgoodrich all terrain right now, they are alright, i just wanted to step up to a more off road tire. Please write ur stories or experiences so i can figure out what to buy. thanks so much for ur time. peace out
mrmatt
I have never run them myself, but I have heard that the Mickeys are junk, they don't do well in mud and they commonly have belts break. For hard core off-road I suggest Super Swamper Boggers or regular TSL, but either of these would require a major stereo upgrade to overcome the tire noise that these will create. So these probably won't be best for your truck that is used for multipurposes. I suggest the Goodyear MTRs. They are relatively quiet on the highway (for a mud tire), have extremely tough sidewalls, and do almost as well in the mud as TSLs.
blazenlo
Hey man I am running the goodyear MTRs and love them. They do great in the mud, the road noise and vibration is minimal and they are wearing good. Here is a shity pic of them on my truck. Imagestation sucks so if it dont work just copy and paste. sand rocket
i agree with Mr Matt & blazenlo. When i need new tires thats what i will be getting. Bfg mudders seem to wear out fast.

boonman
I run nothing but super swamper tires on anything I drive. On both my Blazers, I have Swamper TSl/SX tires. They aren't quite a radial, but aren't quite a bias. I call them a half breed. I have a set of 39" mickey Thompson baja belted tires. I put them on the truck when I am either polishing my other wheels, (with the 44" boggers) or going on a long road trip with the truck. They are pavement and sand tire only. Here is what I recommend to you. If you don't mind noise, a Super swamper TSL/SX will give you great mileage, and superb performance off road. And the on road characteristics are alot better than the run of the mill TSL bias tire. The tread pattern is the same, aside from the little side knobs that are on the SX, but not on the normal TSl. Both sets I have are over the 45K mile mark. I still have about 15-20K to go before they are toast. They are LOUD though. Now, if you don't want the noise, and don't mind spending a slight amount more on the tire, I suggest the Super Swamper SSR. it is a Radial tire. Road noise is minimal. On road characteristics are superb to ALL other swampers. Sipes for wet road use. Excellent off road capability. I have run ALOT of different tires. I do not like Mickey Thompson's, And I HATE BFG tires. Any and all of them. Off road performance compared to a swamper is lacking heavily. The comparison is unparalleled. if you travel in the mud at least twice a year, driving on a swamper is worth it ALL year. Winter traction is AWESOME. I will run buy nothing short of a swamper. Everything else I have tried just dosn't do it.....
sredish
I'm a big fan of the Interco TrXus mud for the on/off highway vehicles. Has enough agressiveness to get where you need to go, but still tight enough for a really good highway ride and not very much noise.
CrashFireBanshee
I have run 33x12.50 brigdestone dueler m/t on two of my trucks now and both went over 60k in miles. offroad they always got me through the mud and ponds or whatever else I decided to go through. Pics of my truck Awesome tire both on and off road Edited April 21, 2004 by CrashFireBanshee

Pics of my truck Awesome tire both on and off road I'll second those. I have some 33's on a work truck and they are extremely quiet and ride like a damn all terrain. I didn't think of them before, becuase you don't even consider them being mt's becuase of how quiet they are, and they do great off road. Just kinda pricey. Nice body mods, when are you hittin' the baja?? Edited April 21, 2004 by sredish

DUNEDEMON
I have had good results with the Maxxis "Buckshot" mud tires, they are less expensive than BFG's and wear better too. http://www.maxxis.com
cb67rs1
super swamper boggers, you cant beat them
.
Listen to boonman, he knows his chit. Also look into the super swamper TSL radials, good long lasting quiet tire that will get you out of pretty much anything, air them down for the sand and they'll be good to go as well
