Is Road Riding Bad

ok, well i was riding around on my dbike casue my shees apart and getting doneover, ne way, i was riding with this kid with a cr and my freind with a craptor, and this kid with the cr is like quads arent made to ride on roads, its hrroible for the engines to keep em open like that, and he said especially 2 strokes, is this tru, casue i do alot of road riding, like a few miles,

first off 2-strokes arent realy ment to put,so opening it up shouldent hurt. but only thing i could see with the engine is keeping it redlined which with any thing will cause problems after a while. the only thing i could see (other then gettin busted) is the pavement eatin your tires up quick

yea, but my tires are stcock rappy tires, so i dont care, u should see my freinds crappy, he has stock tires from 02, and road riding liek 2 miles a day, hes wearing donw teh tire itself not the tred ne more, there slicks, good for riding roads now, but when u hit dirt u have to go slow or else you do 720's

keepin her opened up for long time aint a problem i dont think,ive done about 15,000km in one year of street riding,and shee gets a right good hammering! :headbang: not one problem at all.but im only runnin stock,only 3-4 degree advance,motul full synthetic (sometimes castrol full synthetic).shee holds up well,i expected a lot more problems sooner,but not one :dance: ,when she blows then i tweek her up some! im runnin street tyres,cross tyres are shit on the street,they hold for about 1,5-2,000 miles,and handle like jelly wheels!

Well the banshee's motor is basically an RZ street bike motor..so as far as road riding is goes, Banshee's got the best motor for the job. But on the otherhand, the low psi in the tires will cause it to handle funny at high speeds and the solid rear axle won't let it turn as good as it can on pavement..plus tire wear from the asphalt..I'd keep road riding to a minimum. Dirtbikes on the other hand are even worse on the street, you keep a bike motor pinned and at a constant rpm, you'll glaze the cylinder over and could blow the motor. The motor's weren't designed to work in that way.

In all reality it doesn't matter that much. Like it has been mentioned, just don't ride it wide open in 6th all the time or keep it at a constant RPM.

 

I've had two CR500Rs and I have to admit that the first one got more street miles than dirt! Had it for over a year and rode year round and never had a single problem -- save my bald rear tire. Rode it all up and down the back roads out in the country, here.

 

You also have to keep in mind that unless you're running enough ponies to squak the tires, all of that force is getting put DIRECTLY into the pavement. No tire spin (usually). So it is a little harder on the parts but... as mentioned above.. I've never had a problem because of it and haven't heard of anyone else that has, either.

I use to ride my polaris trail blazer down the roads for miles wide open. Nothing has happened yet to it lol. It still runs pretty good too. As for the banshee a couple years ago i went down the road with it and it was runnign lean then i floored it for a little bit and it blew the piston and crankshaft.
