blazenlo
That sucks too hear about your shee man. You must of got one of the few shitty ones. Previous owner must have beat the shit out of it.
Toomey Banshee
I have to say. I had a 1980 Vette like the shee you have, shelby. Whenever I fixed something, something else just broke. I had it for a few months and the motor blew. I threw in a new LT1 motor and a rebuilt trans with a shift kit in and it ran strong for a month or so. Then the front end went so I squared that away, then it started to run hot, I threw in a new super cooler water pump, it still ran hot but then the electrical started to f*ck up. Got that fixed and the mufflers went,(which I knew needed to be replaced, so this really doesnt count). After that the vaccum assisted headlights just decided to stop working, fixed that. At this point the T-Tops got stolen while the vette was sitting in my driveway. Got another set. Then the power windows decided not to go up. Fixed that, which by the way was a nightmare, then the armrests both seemed to pull out at the SAME EXACT TIME!!! Redrilled them in and finally the absolute last straw, the freaking power antenna motor broke. Drained the battery. I know, not a big deal, throw in a regular antenna, but why? Something else will break, it will blow up, run me over, spit boiling anti freeze on me, whatever. So I said, like you, "thats it, no more" and sold it. Never regretted it for a heartbeat. There are probably a million 1980 Vettes out there that are the poster child of being a Corvette. They are, in my opinion the best looking of the bunch. The 80 had a nice body and was still carberated, not a whole lot of electrical bullshit to mess with, but I had a "lemon". Thats probably what you have. The shee is a reliable, fun beast to own, I have two. Maybe in a year or so, get another and you'll see. Then again maybe not. I have had nothing but good times and fun on the shees I own. They are pretty easy to work on and are a blast all on to themselves to ride. Sell this one, get another and see what happens. I doubt you'll be disapointed twice. shellbyzfan33
wow i like that reply. maybe ur right? but i'm gonna just go the route that i know is best and get another 250r. the 1 i got now and the 1 i had were and is awsome. so i'm gonna just stick with the king of all quads. THE R!!! corvette's rule. i tried to get a 78 last year with just 28,000 miles on it and that has been sitting for the last 9 years but the people who own it are some rich assholes that are just waiting on it to become a classic so they can register it as 1 as save on insurance??? so i did the next best thing and dumped a brand new race motor in my s-10 and holy shit is it fast . well good luck on anything u come across from here out!!! peace. Blue Duece
i think you just got a lemon as well, i race alot or R's and have several other hondas, there a good bike, but done up right a shee will hang with and smoke R's on a track, and for open riding the shee will pound the R, not to disrespect the R's they are great bikes, but if you rode a fast banshee youd know what i mean, your bike sounds like its just shitty, i got a set of good stock carbs with the tors removed, those and some decent reeds and ill bet it would run good, and a cdi can just go out, either it works or it dont, the cool head had absoulutly nothing to do with any of the problems you mentioned so changing it was a waste of time......try starting a new thread and say "Help ive got a 01 that keeps breakin"......not "Banshees are peices of shit"....because your talking to a bunch of guys who have fast ones and have had good luck with them......hope you get it goin, because unless your just racing MX only you will miss out on alot of fun that the R just cant provide..... BrokeStonedBiker
it must be a lemon if you know how to DROP a race engine in an s-10 and make it haul ass. good luck with the R. but if you already have one why do you want to get another? or at least when you realized that the shee wasnt running right give it a rest for a whilke and ride the R? something smells fishy and its not me, lol
H300F
my banshee has a ratio of about 3 times its pulled out of the woods to 1 time it runs good and makes it. i have replaced just about everything on it. i guese i just love the 1 time that it runs great so much that i dont mind when she breaks down. i dont know if it has anything to do with riding and beating it to hard or if its on yamahas part, you got me but i do know i install everything right. do whatever you have to do, thats a nice looking one i would hate seeing it just sit. shellbyzfan33
well i'm gonna head out to the garage today and swap a few things of the other parts shee i have and see if i can't get some spark? thats all it might need? i'm just so frustrated with not being able to ride this thing like i should!! the r i just picked is allready torn down for a full rebuild including frame being powdercoated, bearings being replaced, adding new parts and what not;; if i do get the shee running sweet i still want to trade it for a r of equal value or close to it!!
