Another Question On My Passion Engine

Recommended Posts

Yeah It starts in 2nd but it boggs a little in the sand. But everyone here keeps talking about sand, I am not I am talking about dirt, concret, fields extra not sand. I races a guy on the street and if we would have started the exact same time off the line he would have been beside me the hole time. He is running a stock crank and a very mild port with a cool head, jet kit and pipes. I dont think he should have been right there with me.

Oh and yeah I am feeling some of that power, I know that haha but I think it could run alot better than it does. I would bet a grand that if I was to race you Duece with the same gearing you would totaly smoke me BAD!!!! I need to get it jetted in and get reeds right now. I think that would make a big diffrence!!!!!!!!

correct me if im wrong but you said if you go to a 13/39 you will have to shift every 2 seconds? you will have to shift more if your running a 16/41.

if i were you i would run a 12/39, if you can start in second fine with a 14/40 then i would try that out and see if it works out. the lower your gearing sprockets are the more speed you will get out of each gear before you shift. why on earth would you want to run a 16/41. with 80 hp that would be like burn out city.

get some 22's and a 13/39 and see if thats what your lookin for.

im right arnt i? i havent got this backwards

Sorry, I was going by the first part of this thread when you were complaining about bad starts in the sand. I hadn't realized we switched to dirt. :shootself:

One thing is for sure, +4 swingarm + knobbies + 80hp on dirt = sit&spin. Wouldn't surprise me if your Kodiak kept up with you through the first 4 gears. At least until your bike got caught up with your tires. I have a dyno'ed 80 hp motor, not just guessing, and I tried a +4 swingarm on the trails and it was no fun at all. Even with taller gearing all I did was spin the tires. Even in the sand with 10 paddle haulers the stock gearing would just spin down the sand strip.

I would concentrate on your jetting and reeds before you mess with changing pipes. Something is really wrong if you were bogging in the sand with 9 paddles and a +4 swingarm. You should have been smoking the crap out of those tires off the line in second gear. I am not knocking your motor just seeing that you are going through the same crap I did when I first got my cheetah cylinders. It took me about 3 months to really get them dialed in where they are now. Throw you in some V-Force reeds and drop your mains a little at a time. And if you don't make numerous trips to the sand then ditch that +4 and go with a stock or even a -1 swingarm. Then you will start smokin those guys.

Good luck man, and let us know how it turns out.

oh i see it now, you want a bigger front sprocket and a smaller rear sprocket. right? that will get you the most out of your gearing speed right?

Here's how i know it the larger front sprocket the higher top speed, the smaller front sprocket the slower top speed. Its the opposite for the rear

Thats right! I should be adle to run a 17/39 or a 17/40 with no problem but my jetting is off and I need some good reeds. My engine is starving for more air I think.

Have you tried a 72 main jet yet? I run 50 pilot jet in my banshee. You say you are just riding in dirt and pasture's so why do you have a +4 swingarm? If you still have your stock swingarm put it back on and put a 16/40 and leave your gearing alone for now.

thats where im at a 172 main a 50 pilot..tall gears and your a ghost......that 13/41 shit is for weak banshees your motor will pull a 16 straight up any hill, dirt, sand or pavment.......jims motor rocks you just need to dial it in...........

My passion motor saw its first race on a large oval track on saturday. This thing is pretty much AWESOME. Last year I ran a ported 350, this 4mm is totally different. When I would shift, I would instantly gain 4 bike lengths on the guy in front of me. I am running CPI's, 35 PWK's with 50 pilots and 160 main, filters on back of the carbs, and 16/39 gearing with 18" tires. This motor will lug in the corners which is great on slick tracks like it was on saturday. I can let the rpms fall way down then it pulls like a 4 stroke. I am very happy with this motor and I think you will be too when you get it lined out.

Are you sure you are reving the motor out? My motor makes such great power even off the pipe, that friends that have rode it won't even hit the powerband and they are shifting. Put that thing in 3rd and just see how far it will rev.

I can't wait to play with my new Passion motor. Jim is putting the final touches on it as we speak. This one will be for use in a straight lines only. I am looking at sending another set of cylinders for the 350 12 port setup. Damn Jim, do you have a punch card like the pizza buffets? :P Buy 5 and the 6th one is free? :D

hmm didn't I tell you a long time ago that those fmfs would be dogs on that motor?   Get some cpis you cheap bastard, you can get them used for $400 and sell your pipes for 300-350 on fleabay. You will not regret it.

I don't think to many people at dumont would have called my fatty's dogs. I'm running a grand river racing mx/rec ported stroker. I was running 15/41 but my tires were big as hell. I ordered 21's and I bet they were in the range of 23 to 25 inches. I need to learn my starts but I pulled past most people up the hill. I'll keep my fatty's. Doesn't mean they'll work the same on jims motor though.

I really believe you'll gain your power from jetting. You do need to have the air intakes "system" as open as your riding style will allow. I did notice you said it revs so quick now that you have to shift all the time. If you are letting it rev out like you need to then you will need taller gearing to fix that.
