Another Question On My Passion Engine

Recommended Posts

I have a question, when I got my Passion engine I didn;t realize how fast it was because I wasn;t very experiansed with quads. I was told that when I race another banshee that I will then beable to see how fast it really was. Last night I raced a banshee with stock stroke, trinety head and exhuast, and a jet kit running stock gearing. I changed my gearing to 16/41 to see how it ran and when we raced he was on my ass all the way. Why??? He was pushing maybe 50hp and I am told that I have around 80 so why is he on my ass all the way?? That kinda made me feel like shit. So now what do I need to do to make it faster?? I dont think I should have to do much because I just spent all the money for a fast engine and a damn near stock banshee is on my ass. Man that pissed me off!!!!!!!

Oh and another thing. My power band isnt down low like everyone says it is suppose to be. It is more mid rpms like a stock power band is. I was told by a couple people to raise my needle and others to lower my needle and the power band is still the same. Not all the time but just some times it is still a little dogish at about 0 to 1/4 throttle, but mostly when its it really warmed up. Any ideas fellas?

If it runs harder or fells stronger cold you are rich lean it out alittle bit. do a plug chop jetting and rider mostly rider will determine a drag race.

i got about 80 to 100 lbs on all my buddies and we all have the same mods and we all are about even when we drag i can beat them if i get a good whole shot and them the same..Its all rider

what porting did you get trail drag dune what?

If I can;t run a 16/41 then something is wrong. Blue Duece is running a 17/40 and that is alot higher geared than mine and he says that his is very very fast ans he is running it on an MX track. I am suppose to have around 80+hp and I know that I dont, something here is wrong. I can;t run a 16/41, that is just way to low geared I am shifting my ass off. I was running a 15/39 in the sand and it ran great other than the low end, there is no powerband untill I get up there in the RPMs. I will take my carbs apart and look at it and see what the jets are and post a message.

Oh and I do let it rev high before I shift also.

All banshees, it seems no matter what you do, will still have that take off at a certain rpm, from what ive seen on dynos the motor turns on at 4000-5000rpms. you can help smooth the powerband out with paul turner mids, but you may loose a bit of topend pull. i run them and dont mind if i miss alittle up top because i just love the way she performs with them.

how close is on your ass, 3ft, or 3 quad lengths?

i would experiment with the jetting some and just keep riding it to get the feel for her.

MY .02,,, you are way rich on your mains. I think you need to be down around 150-155. A 55 pilot is OK, but try and drop your mains down doing a plug chop each time to be safe. To get the best performance out of your motor you just dumped alot of money in, you need to get it on a dyno and get it dialed in. if indeed you are pushing 80hp a piped banshee should in no way keep up with you.

I didn't mean that you won't be able to pull the taller gear all that I am saying is that your gearing depends on how long the track, strip, or whatever is. If your running a 300 ft drag race a 16 tooth front might be too much, especially in the sand. I have around 65hp right now and I am running stock gearing. Try to drop it down one in the front sand takes away a lot of horsepower.

what does jim say have you talked to him ,

blue duece is running diferent pipes than you are and also at a different elevation and a different terrain he rides alot of desert so he wants a tall gear that pulls for a long time so the bike is not reved out.on the mx track it may be open and not very tight so the longer gear would work but for a short track or drag racing you run a lower gear revs out quick but for not very long..

Maybe the other guy was not telling you the whole story on his motor. what tires where you using and what was he using. how tall are youre rear tires 20 ,22,

blue duece may be running an 18 on the mx track wich would be the same as gearing the front down.. there are alot of options and endless combinations you just have to play around with it till you get it they way you want.

got1, not trying to put you down or anything, but when you say you have 80 HP , did he tell you when the motor was built it would put out around 80HP? because that might be engine HP not rear wheel horse power, just asking cause i have mad shit done to mine, running race gas and i only dynoed at 73 rear wheel horse power. i know this has nothing to do with a slightly modded banshee keeping up with you, you just might not have as mush as you think you do.
