ledofthezep Posted April 15, 2004 Report Share Posted April 15, 2004 Tape off a pattern, grab your cutting tool of choice & follow the pattern you taped out. Not much to it, just take your time & it'll turn out just fine. I used a fine-toothed blade on a jigsaw for mine, then sanded a couple spots that needed it when finished. Cotton eyed Joe Posted April 15, 2004 Report Share Posted April 15, 2004 I used a piece of string and a sharpie to set the correct distance I wanted on the rear of the fenders, and the same towards the front part of the rear fenders. Then I put the beginning of some masking tape down, and pulled it off the roll somewhat taught to it would be straight, then I put it down on my second mark. After pushing it all down I stood back and looked at it to make sure it was even and straight. Then I used a cut off wheel. I stayed away from my tape line, then went back after a majority of the fender was cut off and made a finish cut. It still wasn't perfectly straight so I took a 2x4 about 6 inches long and used it as a sanding block. I sanded with 220, then 320 grit until it was straight. I would rub the phat end of a Sharpie marker along the edge as a high and low spot marker, and as I would sand I could see where it wasn't quite even yet. Justintoxicated Posted April 15, 2004 Report Share Posted April 15, 2004 I cut mine with a hacksaw after using masking tape and a sharpie to draw the lines..The cut was horrible. Then I took a Rasp, and evened everything out perfect. The Rasp kicked serious ass for this, then I sanded with some differen't grits and now the edge on my cuts is much better than event he stock edges! The rasp is like a cheeze gratter so it leaves a ruff edge, but you can easily turn a bumpy cutting job into something perfectly flat. Then sand down afterward to make it nice and smooth. nate1999mxz600 Posted April 15, 2004 Report Share Posted April 15, 2004 i used a sharpie to draw the pattern that i wanted and obviously did the same to the other side. then i busted out the dremel and went to town with it.after about 30 seconds youll be done with your fender, then do your other side.once i was done i had to sand all the shitty little chunks of plastic that melted and hardened again.it was probably the easiest thing i have ever done in my life, but thats just me Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
