LeChicharon
Here is my prob. Their are two vent lines that come from the top of the radiator and go on the right of the bike. Yamaha welded a D-piece on the right side of the frame and the tubes just end there. So when coolant comes out of the vents though rarely ever does, it goes all over my exhaust. Can I rout (spelling) these lines 2a splitter and to my overflow bottle on the back of the bike
nater006
Mine's got one overflow that rolls back to the resevoir bottle in the back. The bottle itself has an overflow line on it that is about 6" long and dumps out into the void of 70mph offroad space... Don't know as though this is normal but it works fine
MotulMonsta
I just ran a line from the radiator vent straight down the side of the frame and trashed the res. system. I kept loosing coolant and it made a mess of things..but since I dropped the res, no issues what so ever...I check the coolant level before each ride and that's about it. THOR1
Im thinking about trashing the coolant res. too. The hose that goes to it do you run it along the frame for overflow along with the others at the front that always leak crap all over the pipes? Im gonna re route them as well! BrokeStonedBiker
yeah but its would be a pain in the ass taking off the rad cover every time you wanna ride. probably go through a a half a dozen screws from stripping them out all the time. sand rocket
I rerouted mine to dump out with the carb overflow line at the swing arm mount. Do not leak on the pipes any more, and can still use the bottle.

Don't know as though this is normal but it works fine Thats normal, thats the stock factory "overflow sytem". The overflow bottle is mounted to the back of the airbox. Yep i did the same thing with mine, removed the bottle completly and just ran the overflow tube along the frame rails, held on with zip ties. I ran that setup all spring\summer\fall last year and iv come to the conclusion that keeping the overflow bottle on is the better setup. My coolant level always seemed to be low, I am running big bore sleeves with a stock radiator, its bound to get a little hot. It got to be a pain in the ass removing that radiator cover and checking/adding the coolant everytime I went for a ride. The weight of the coolant bottle is minimal, you can mount it up in the nose of the frame, between the upper A-arms and it works just as good as when it was mounted behind the airbox. When the engine gets hot and spits out some coolant, the bottle catches it, holds it and then returns it back to the radiator when things cool down PLUS.... you dont have to be paranoid about your coolant level and going through the coolant check ritual. This past winter, I re-mounted my coolant bottle, its mounted up front. Edited April 15, 2004 by Meat
