BrianEb
I was riding @ The Mounds in MI. for about ten minutes when I climbed up this hill and stopped I notice there was steam coming from my stock pipes. Here is my question did some radiator fluid from my resorvoir spill on my pipes, or was my radiator already overheating. I know you can move that resorvoir tank behind your air box and reroute it up front but if that resorvoir tank is behind your airbox how does it spill on your pipes
motohawk
I smelled a little coolant at Pismo a few weeks ago. It turned out to be an overflow line that is different than the one going to the res tank. It will dump it right on your pipes. I just have no idea why there is a different line there anyways. 99screaminshee
fix#1 trace that hose it leads back to the rezzie tank i shortened mine so that way it overheats hot coolant doesnt blow back on me it just dumps out on the swingarm fix#2 i got a coolhead and i havent had anymore overheating problems since then ive heard people say that coolheads dont make ur bike run any cooler but it sure made a difference on mine fix#3 do a search and find the thread on relocating the rezzie to under the radiator ove heard this cures that too

Take the top hose that hooks onto the overflow bottle and make it about 6 inches and use a zip tie to secure it onto the frame by the swingarm don't tighten the zip tie up too much or the cap on the bottle will pop off and you will lose it..I know from experience.. Kg8
Sounds like it was overheating, my banshee spits out coolant on my pipes sometimes making a white stain on my pipes, so i got tired of it and zip tied a small bottle to the frame with the overflow tube inside so when antifreeze comes out the overflow it runs right into it. jhackwit
I had a blown head gasket on mine. It was actually blowing air into the cooling jacket through the gasket leak and forcing the coolant into the overflow tank. It would then keep going out the overflow hose and onto the pipes on the right side. A new head gasket did the trick. If you have a similar situation, you will probably be able to see the coolant bubbling into the overflow tank.
spoin39
I know that the mess on the pipes is irritating, but that is how to tell that you are overheating! It was routed there for a reason, so you would see the steam and know you are running too hot.

baldwinville
ok. all you guys have good ideas but here is the deal. the over flow tank is located behind the air box and the top line on it is the overflow tube. it runs up to the front of the shee and up by the top of the radiator and then down by the pipe on the right. if your over flow can is too full going down hill will cause the fluid to go out the overflow top tube and on your pipes. i learned this my going to JIMSBANSHEE ZONE.COM. he has pics that you can relocate the over flow can to the front of the bike. i didnt do it. but that is cause i didnt want to. you can shorten it and put it in the swingarm area if you want. but then you need to check your fluid more often
