Shee Maintenance

Recommended Posts

Get rid of the stock air filter and get a proflo type adapter

and a 2 clamp on type filters. Having 2 just makes it easier

because you always have one clean and ready to install.

Change your tranny oil about every 15-20 hours and lube

your a-arm and swingarm pivot points.

Other than that, keep your chain clean (and the rest of your

machine) and adjusted and get a clymer manual for reference

to proper procedure for more in depth future maintenance issues.

If you don't know jetting, get to know it if you want your machine to

run good and last. Everything you need to know is here.

And most importantly, try and keep the rubber side down. Get some

better rear tires though so that lesser machines aren't under the

mis-impression that they can actually hang with the shee.

Stock tires suck...bad.

Rid yourself of the stock air filter immediately. Anything is an improvement over the stock one.

Keep your oil changed in the trans.

Use a quality mix oil and mix correctly. Use good gas dont be cheap.

An inline fuel filter is cheap and always a good idea.

Chain adjustment is by far the worst but normally once it has done a little stretching it is set and you wont have to mess with it again.

Keep everything greased.

Keep a check on the coolant levels, tends to puke some here and there.

Pretty basic stuff like you do on any quad or bike. Any good manual will be a great addition to the banshee too. We bought the Yamaha manuals though. Dont know the difference between the Clymer and the Yamaha manual. The Yamaha one has a lot of spec info on torque specs and electrical components.

thanx for the tips guys..all of the information sounds excellent. I am ready to replace the stock air filter right now where to buy and how much is my question? I am running it rich for the first few tanks (24:1) then i will set in at a 32:1 yamalube 2r mix with premium gas. I am trying to buy some toomey t5's for the shee as we speak but i dont know what will happen just yet (any other suggestions on pipes anyone.. i want mid to top range power and lots of it) And finally i hate the stock tires they suck ass. I have raced it 3 times won all three but they were close b/c i couldnt stop spinning until i hit 4th gear.. but thanx for the help all and i look forward to hearing more tips from you guys on what i just asked...
