TRUTH
Hey guys, I just picked up a CV-2 with a 33mm PWK, and I need a little help jetting. I have a set of T5's, Pro-Flow with K&N and no lid, otherwise stock. I just installed everything and starting dialing it in. I have a 182 main and the clip 2nd from the top...The pilot is where I get confused. I have a 35 in it and it still seems a little ritch.. It pulls real hard wide open and pretty good at half, but below half it feels real sluggish and if I wick it open, sometimes it will just fall on its face (boowaaah). As I understand the 35 pilot is the leanest you can get and I have gone up to a 45 and it seems to get worse. (I have 35-55 pilots)..Any suggestions?? I am in WI, pretty close to sea level. Thanks!! Banchetta
Try different needle positions, if its hesitating before powerband, then your needles are too lean. Raise the needles one clip at a time until the hesitation is gone...Raise them too high and it'll spit and sputter like a rev limiter.... TRUTH
Hey, Thanks for the suggestions. So the 35 pilot doesn't seem too lean? I have tried different needle positions and at 3 from the top it feels real boggy before the powerband, at 2 it feels good...From half to wide open throttle all is great..It starts great cold or hot, 1 to 2 kicks and idles great..It just feels bad to 1/4 throttle and sounds real boggy and sputtery at that throttle position (if those are words ) and if I wick it open from no throttle sometimes it goes boooww and doesn't accelerate....Any more help would be appreciated! Banchetta
Boggy and sputtery are two different terms. The boooaaahhhh is the bog, which is caused from being too lean. A sputter is when is sounds like its skipping and giving a choppy affect which is caused by being too rich...I'd raise the needle until you get it to sputter, then back it down one clip.....As far as the pilots...Do you have to use the choke to start it when cold?? Have you tried adjusting the air screws for throttle response?? If so, where do they like to be?
brocky2727
if you ever find any good settings for your jetting please tell me because I am in the exact position you are in jetting. Likewise, if i find anything i will send it to you. Thanks.
sredish
Definitely sounds like a needle issue to me as well. Just for an FYI, I run my needle in the 4th clip from the top/blunt end with my below mods. I would imagine that the 2nd clip would be lean. Also, I'm at a 52 pilot, teh 35 sounds lean to me as well. My motor likes it a little richer than most others but raise the needle to the 4th and see how goes and when you get the needle set, raise your pilot till it bogs and back it off a size or so. mcaf29
If you toss new plugs in it, does it rip right off idle. What happened to me was my needle was too rich, and if you ride trails you "load up" the plugs, so when I came out of the woods it would sputter then after a 1/4 mile or so it would rip. Then if I slowed down again the power was still there, the sputter only came back after slow woods riding. I fixed it by leaning out the needle. I think I may even have had it at its leanest position when it ran like a raped ape. Just make sure you get there slowly, if it backfires when you roll off the throttle you are too lean. I think it comes with such a fat needle you really shouldn't have a problem. Also, how do your plugs look? Plug chop for the mains, you should be good with a 38 or 35 (I am sea level-500ft) pilot. Then ride a 1/2 hour or so how you normally would, if you're plugs are black its an indication that your all around jetting is rich. So go a a step leaner on the needle. That's why MX jetting is leaner than dune or drag jetting. It took me awhile to dial that thing in but it was worth all the work involved. TRUTH
Hey Guys, I appreciate all the help..When I get some free time I will do some more tuning and let everyone knopw what I find out...I have raised the needle one more postion (3rd) and it still feels good..Still back firing a little when I chop the throttle..I am going to keep richening the pilot and needle until it feels real rich and back down a little.. Nice to hear from you Eric!! The 2 into 1 feels great and I can't wait to see how it feels dialed in!! I haven't done any plug readings yet, I want to do that after it feels a little more dialed in..Thanks for the help guys! I'll put it to good use!! Frank. 97blkbanshee
I have a trinity cv w/ 33 ,Trinity pipes ,and pro-flo w/ K&n ,no lid and I'm at sea level. I just installed them last night and didn't even start it yet. When I spoke to Trinity to order this stuff they said, the carb would be basically set up for my mods and elevation. The carb came pre-jetted with #180 main and #52 pilot. It also came with #178 & #182 mains and #50 & #55 pilots for fine tuning. Let us know what your final settings are.Other people and I are in the same boat .Any info would be appreciated. That goes for anyone else out there with any info.I will post my results as soon as I get my shee up and runnin.
