Raised Needle And Now It Wolln't Start

Recommended Posts

Ok I raised the needle to the 4th notch put it back together. turned the key, switch and fuel on shook the bike for a while to mix fuel and kicked the crap out of it and it wollnt start. What the heck could it be used to run good. After shakeing and kicking I think it got flodded because it was leaking everywhere. But I didn't have time to let it sit and try later because I had to leave to go shooting. Will try again tomarrow. But any Ideas will be appreciated.

I check my spark by pulling the plugs out, popping them back in the plug caps, ground them against a head bolt and kick it over by hand. If you don't see spark from both plugs..somthing up. The plugs will spark at exactly the same time regardless of which plug goes to what cylinder. They should spark on every kick. If it doesn't make shure you got a good ground..keep trying until you get spark...or until you get so overly frustrated that you kick the machine and call it a stupid piece of shit and walk away.

Make sure one of your slides aren't stuck wide open...Most shees won't start if one slide is stuck....Also make sure you didn't cross them over, the cutaway on the slides should face the air box. You might have switched the left to right and vise-versa....If its a spark problem, which I doubt if you only messed w/ the carbs, then check the Tors. Disconnect the little black box above the left exhaust and disconnect the parking brake switch...

I left the carbs attached and did one at a time so there not switched. What part of the plug should touch the head bolt when checking spark. I cant see how I lost spark but it may be possible As for the slides if I am correct they can only go in one way. I'll probably just have to take them apart tommarrow and re do them. do you guys oil the slids when you put them back in.

The do only go in one way, but the left side slide can fit the right side carb, but will be backwards...Just pull the air cleaner and look in w/ a flashlight. If the slide goes all the way down to the bottom of the carbs then they are back wards. You should see a slant in the slides from the air box...You'll also be able to see if one of them is sticking...For spark, put the plug in the boot and put the electrode end of the plug against a bolt or nut on the motor where there is no paint..
