adeezy9183
okay, just got a 92 banshee but everything was rebuilt. motor ported to standard w/ wiseco pistons and la sleeves, k and n filter. works rear remote shock w/ rezzie, dynoport 2 into 1 exhaust. trinity 2 into 1 carb kit, sachs front piggyback shocks w/ rezzies. I was wondering if anyone had this setup and how it ran to them because i think my carburetor is running a little rich. i checked the plugs and they looked a little rich and have no idea how to tune it correctly and would appreciate if anyone knew the proper way to tune and what jetting is the best for this setup. this bike was setup for low end torque. please reply. appreciate it

I have fmf fatties though, not 4 sure on the 2in1 exhaust probably the same though! I'm at 600 ft !

I have fmf fatties though, not 4 sure on the 2in1 exhaust probably the same though! I'm at 600 ft ! that should be a good place to start. You might need to go up or down some depending on your elevation, air box lid on or off, and other small factors. Jetting is easy. Set your needle in the 3rd position (just as a starting point, 'cause I recommend the 4th) and then set your main jet. Do a Wide Open Throttle test, kill it with the throttle pegged in 4th or 5th gear. Coast to a stop and check the plugs, should be a dark brown, any darker and it's rich, any lighter and it's BOOM, too lean. Once the main is set, adjust your pilot for good throttle response, and idling. When that's set, play with your needle, move it to the 4th position and see how it runs, starts and all. You should be good to go after that. Start with the suggestions above and see how it goes. One thing, you get richer as it gets hotter, because the air temps go up and the air is less dense. You get leaner in the winter, because the air gets cooler and more dense. Remember with Jetting, keep it simple and don't overwhelm yourself with the big picture, take it one step at a time. adeezy9183
thanks for all the replies. this site is great. i was wondering, what company sold the best jets. I've been riding for a while but i wanted to really learn how to work on them. Also, i was wondering, what people with the 2 into 1 setup thought of it and how it ran compared to stock. I heard that it had a lot more bottom end, but it's been so long since i've rode a stock banshee. my brother has a yfz450 and it can stay pretty even in high gear. well thanks again for all the replies. There is great low, awesome mid and great top w/ a single 35mm in comparison to the stock carbs. You will find aftmkt carbs that will give quite a bit more top, but not near the mid and zero low end. A lot of people say, "you lose top end power with a single carb". Yeah, when you go from a pair of dual 34s. But going from stock carbs to the single 35mm setup, you'll gain all across the board with awesome mid and good top end. Trust me!
banshee76179
I think Scott will agree! But, the top end is not that big of a difference w/1 carb.. I have noticed maybe 2 to 5 mph... maybe!
adeezy9183
this is my first banshee, before the banshee i had a z400 and you and me both know that thing had a lot of low end. i bought the banshee with the 2 in1 carb and the 2 in 1 pipe setup. when i take off on the banshee it's sort of boggy taking off but it hits the power band very soon and from then on you gotta hold on. i was wondering if the jetting in my carb was correct but i have no idea what jets are in it cuz i bought it put together like that. should the low end feel like a four stroke or not? I know that's prolly a dumb question but was just wondering. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks again

If its super low rpms, it won't lug quite like a 4 stroke, but if it is bogging, you might need to come up on the pilot and needle a little. Best thing to do is take it apart and find out what you have in there now. Then we can discuss what to do with what you've got. If you've never taken a carb apart before, it might be best to have a friend or someone you might know to help out so you can get the idea. Worst case, someone at the dealer should be kind enough to help you. Granted the dealer isn't the best place cause they're so pricey, but you got to learn somewhere. Hell, I have just always taken shit apart not knowing what I'm getting into, and it won't run until I get it back together the way it was. Trial and error. I think Scott will agree! But, the top end is not that big of a differencew/1 carb.. Absolutely, I was at the dunes and my top end was running damn near as hard as all those damned T5s and PCs and CPIs, but it came on sooner. I wouldn't say I was the fastest or slowest, it depended on the hookup, but I was definitely right in there with them. I don't feel any lack in the top end rpms. I'll NEVER go back to duals, maybe a single 38mm or 40mm.
adeezy9183
i guess i'll just have to learn how things work when i take the carb apart. i helped my brother jet his yfz450 and i wouldn't think their's that big of a difference between that and this. i know i have to switch gears a hell of a lot sooner on my banshee then on the z400 that i use to have. it's like as soon as you switch gears, it's already at the rev limiter. i was wondering if that's normal too by the way. thanks again guys. you guys are a huge help. I was also wondering if you had to use a special type of staple gun to put on a seat cover because i need aseat cover. after that i'll be good. thanks again for all the help
